Hello everyone,

I am new to Nextpvr. I seem to always get this error when trying to watch live TV. It says "Unable to communicate with Recording services" Can anyone help how to solve this? I have attached the log files..

Sorry for the newbie question. Tried searching for answers but didn't find them.

One thing I really will miss of WMC is it's search capabilities. I can search by category for say sports or movies. Is are there nay addons or plugins for NextPVR that will have a more robust search? The search in NextPVR seems to be pretty basic.

I did try using TV Listings. Not sure if that does it or not but I can't tell because I get a crash when accessing it. Which was going to be my next question.

On reading the instructions regarding recording of TV Series, It says that you can prevent duplicate recordings of your shows by selecting the scheduled recording, double clicking and choosing Cancel. This should prevent that particular episode from appearing in the recording schedule at the next EPG scan.
I have set up a Series recording that does not appear to follow these guidelines.

I set up a Series recording for two shows - "AFL Premiership:" and "Sevens SANFL" Obviously these are sporting shows and not your regular TV Series/Episodes etc. As per the attacxhed SS you can see that there are a number of the AFL shows every week but I only want one of them. So, if I "Cancel" the unwanted recordings today they will all re-appear after the next EPG scan/update. The same with the "Sevens SANFL" show, only one show per week, but if it does not include my team then I don't want to record it, yet cancelling it has the same effect as the AFL show, It will re-appear after the next guide update.

Is there a way in which I can stop this from happening?

After adding the server manually (could not autologon), guide, recordings, and channels show fine. But nothing plays. For recordings, short "initializing" pops up on the upper right hand corner of the screen, followed by a blank screen. Live TV shows the message longer, but same result. This is on wife's ipad mini 2.

Is there a way to get NextPVR to record Movies in the Movies directory and TV Shows in TV Shows? If so how?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've started using the Freesat EPG option and I don't get listings for some channels (e.g. CBS Action, Food Network). I've selected Freesat as the EPG source, but there are no further mapping options.

What should I be looking for? Does it map by the exact channel name? Or the tuning parameters?

In LiveTV mode. Using keyboard I try to change the channel entering 3.1. The 3 appears but no .(period) and then the 1 appears all by itself(the 3 disappears). I also tried the Numeric . with the same result. I can enter 31 but not 3.1 This behavior also occurred in version 3.6.6.

I am currently running Windows 7 on my home PC and NextPVR along with my Happauge 1212 and everything works amazingly well

My question is, I am going to finally take the jump to Windows 10 ( I know NextPVR works fine with Windows 10).

When it comes time to configure my Happauge unit, do I need ANY of the software that came with it? Or, will NextPVR install everything I need (Drivers included)?

Only reason i ask is, when I installed NextPVR originally , I already had the software installed that came with the unit, so, I never really found out if that software is needed or not.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Hello all. before posting this question I did a search on both the forums and general search engine but was unable to find any answers to my question.

Card in use - Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
NextPVR version 3.7.7

I followed directions and did a full scan of channels. NextPVR seems to catch all the channels starting at around channel 30-1. Local channels that are in lower channels (e.g. 4-1, 6-1 etc) are never found. These channels were always discovered when using WMC. The channels above 30-1 are fully discovered and functioning properly. Any advice on how to discover the local channels highly appreciated.

To start with this is a first for me and is a new thing for me.

I have the card connected to a splitter since I believe you need both inputs to be connect in order to record? Both as i said go to a source that is connected via embeded into the wall. I did a test and hooked this cable to my TV directly and their was signal so their is something up with the CARD or the Cable.

I did run the driver installer.

I have NextPVR installed and have directx installed along with. I go to devices and I see 4 devices

I have time warner cable and wish to watch live tv and all that nice stuff. So I click on each one, one after another and tell it to scan All Frequencies (some have this options list 2-3 times) and nothing ever shows up even after waiting 15 mins.

I did a bit of research and I have the Firewall 100% turned off so im kinda lost as to why nothing is being listed.

any help.
