Sounds like you need a mpeg2 decoder for media player. I use descaler5.

If your HDTV wonder came with drivers that support hardware decoding, you can use those if you have a video card that is suported.

As for conversion, you can try my script. If the souce is clean, you will get beautiful Xvid files.

haven't had time to try the decoding yet, but I think I may be on to the problem!

I'm using win 2000 instead of xp. =\

my nVidia fx 5500 has full hardware mpeg 2 decoding, but the software uses xp. I think that may be were the problem lies
