I have tried the newest version of GBPVR and I have to say it is a great job!, but I'm having problems setting the video bitrates.... When i try to capture some video I get a HUGE file that eats my hdd space...... for example, i tried to capture an episode of the family guy... which is about 24 min long..., the result was a HQ divx file but the size and bitrate where not the desired....for that 24 min recording I got a 1.75 GB file and when i opened it with virtualdub to figure out the actual video bitrate..., it said that the bitrate was 6500kbs!!!!....
I also tried to modify the personal settings.....and the video bitrate was still too much!!!,,,,,,,... the fact that this software captures audio in PCM format doesn't bug me.......what bugs me is that if I schedule 4 shows of 30 mins each to be recorded on my HDD it will totally eat up my space!!!

Any suggestions on how to change the video bitrate??? I'm trying to capture a decent 2000 kbs video file!... which using DIVX gives me around 500 megs,,,,.....

Is this with a Plextor PX-M402U capturing directly to DivX?

You should be able to change the bitrate in the settings for the GO7007SB recording source. I'll double check tonight that this works correctly for me.

I've just now changed the audio to be captured as MPEG1 layer 2 for DivX, which should help with size of the files. It was already doing this for MPEG1/2 video.

How are you starting the recordings? In the TV Guide if you click "Record", then select High/Medium/Low these should result in different bitrate recordings.

Hi!, thanks for your attention and help!!... Yes i start the Gbpvr program and lauch the record screen from the channel list....why do u say this alters the bitrate?.... is there any other way to schedule and record tv shows without having to use the channel list???

The procedures i follow to shedule a recording are the following:
I open the configuration window and go to capture sources, i select my recording device and click on edit...then I select my recording source as GO7007SB recording plug in and then I click on settings.... there I try to modify the custom quality 1 profile.... and I set the bitrate to 2000000 bps and my audio to 48khz 16 bit stereo.... (2000000 bps should stand for 2000kbps i believe!Wink... then I click Ok on everything and the GBpvr recording service restarts.... .... after going thru the settings I launch the GBPVR.EXE and the channel list comes up ... I click over the show i want to record and it asks me to select if i want to record the show.... i select record ,and then on the quality field i select custom quality 1, which is the one I modified by going to the settings previously.........
After all that .... the result is still a pretty huge file at 4 to 6 thousand kbps bitrate....

Ohh if I try the medium quality setting or low quality setting the video bitrate is still way off the charts!

Any ideas... ?, If this gets to be a bug in the program and you release a patch for it ,,, i will really appreciate if you post a link to download it.......

Again, thanks for your help and time!

Mmm by the way.. when I try the High quality I get and ULTRA HUGE file at 8000+ kbps bitrate..........when using medium quality i get 6000+ kbps bitrate.......and when I use the low quality bitrate I get a squeezed up file at 5000+ kbps bitrate........and when i try to set up the bitrate on the custom 1 or 2 profiles....... i get unpredictable results....sometimes 4000+kbps and sometimes 7000+kbps...
