A few points to make here at the start.
  1. Thank you! This is an awesome project and I know a ton of work has gone into it.
  2. I am new to gbpvr and this is my first install (I love it)
  3. This is my first post to the forum, so be please be gentle... Wink
I accomplished with gbpvr in less than 4 hours, what I couldn't with mythtv after several days... and I am a unix guy... there I said it! Again, great job to all who have contributed to this project!

The build went great and worked perfectly right from the start with no plugins... then I started adding things, tweaking things, and eventually broke the whole thing. :o

OK, so here is the deal.

After adding the My Videos plugin (and all the related software), everytime I stop playing a video gbpvr.exe crashes.

After downloading and running from the command line the RenameRecording utility, I can no longer access any recorded shows.

So here are my questions:

Should I try to work through these issues or start a fresh?

If I do start again, what is the best way to clear out all the previous work, short of reinstalling Windows?

Finally, I would like to play with comskip, but every link points to the same site (http://mk.kaashoek.com/comskip/) which doesn't seem to be up... can someone point me to a working link?

Thanks again,
UnixDude Cool

I haven't heard back from anyone regarding my questions... but I came up with some answers that work for me. Here they are in case anyone else is interested.

1) You can rebuild your gbpvr box simply by copying the gbpvr.mdb file from the old box to the new assuming that all of your recorded files are still available and in the same location.

2) I fixed the gbpvr.exe crash problem by re-installing my video codecs. I used the XP_Codec_Pack1.3.0 from http://www.free-codecs.com

3) I found a copy of comskip on the SageTV forum, since the main site seems to be down

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...

I recovered my missing recorded shows by manually editing the gbpvr.mdb file with MS Access. It seems that RenameRecording had renamed the files, but somehow misseded changing their names in the gbpvr database, so gbpvr couldn't find them. However, this was probably due to some mis-configuration on my part because since then I have been using the RenameRecording utility regularly without any issues.
