I currently have GBPVR running with a PVR250 and MVP box. I'm thinking about replacing the 250 with a DVB-T card but I need subtitles. Which card would do this best (and at a reasonable price)?

Does the good old Nova-T allow subtitles through GBPVR and the MVP? I'm sure I could pick one of those up cheaply on Ebay but any other suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Simon.

It depends which country you're in. If you in a country that uses teletext subtitles, you should be able to get it to go, but subtitles probably wont be great via the MVP (probably slightly out of sync with what is on screen).

Ah-ha, I didn't notice that you were online too Smile

I'm in the UK and ideally would want to use the digital subtitles that come with the DVB-T stream. Can they be switched on and off and do they record with the picture?

I want to be sure this time, I've thrown too much money at this project already (grotty old DEC2000T, etc.), I'm sure many of you know what I mean... Smile

Unfortunately the UK uses a different system of subtitles, which isnt compatible with the Teletext based DVB subtitles which GB-PVR supports.

That's a shame, any thoughts on adding support for them?

Maybe someone else knows if one of the DVB-T cards will supply teletext subtitles? From my experiences with Hauppauge cards the teletext was a bit flakey at best but hopefully I can find a configuration that works.

Any suggestions or help with this would be most appreciated.

Maybe in the future. Its not very easy for me to develop/test support for your system in the UK since we dont use these types of signals here.

All the DVB cards support teletext with GB-PVR, including teletext subtitles, but unfortunately they dont transmit teletext with DVB in the UK. Instead they use a system called MHEG-5 instead.

Ah yes, I know about MHEG-5 but wasn't sure if Teletext was piggy-backed onto the signal as well. I use a Nebula DigiTV card in my workstation which is great and I'd really like to convert my GBPVR server to Digital TV but it sounds as if I've got problems on my hands.

Never mind, perhaps someone will be able to give me some first hand experience and suggest a way of doing it - even if it meant somehow enabling the subtitles externally from GBPVR or something?

Thanks for your help, Sub. Much appreciated as always.
