I have been using my ATI AIW for quite a while with GBPVR (Software Recorder). I have been viewing shows on an MVP. I have now bought an HDTV and have been watching now on the VGA port. I am having problems with my AIW 9000 card now when I watch a recording and then a scheduled show comes on. I am finding that the show doesn't get recorded and I lose my settings (it gets grayed out) for the S-video input. I have to reboot the system to get it back.

Any ideas? I have attached logs for when I watched a video file and then started recording. I have also attached logs for when I started recording and then started watching the recorded file (which is working).

I had thought it was because I added a new PCI video card but now I have it disconnected and have the same problem.

Sub,

I know you don't support this card. I thought I would ask anyway.

I tried the same thing on my other server and get the same result (AIW 7000). That PC is so slow that I would never watch recordings on it but it was worth a try. I get the same result, the capture ports go gray and I can't get them back until after a reboot. This doesn't happen if you use an MVP or use the S-video output on the card.

I also tried this on the analog side of my HDTV Wonder (also Software Recorder) and it doesn't have this problem.

Anyone else with an AIW got this problem? I initially thought it was GBPVR but it looks like an issue with the AIW and Software Recorder Plugin.

I think I'm getting ready to get rid of this card and move to a supported card.

Sub,

I gave up on ATI and bought an HVR-1600. It works great with GBPVR. Turned out when I installed it, Software Recorder would no longer find the AIW.

Should have listened to you earlier. It's really nice to use a supported card!
