Deleting the second instance of the analog side didn't fix it.

I'm not really sure.
Yes, it does have two physical tuners and they can run simultaneously under GB-PVR.

We didn't think it would make a difference but there is a change to bda.ini to match filtercheck on the PIN_CAPTURE_IN and OUT.

[Hauppauge HVR-1600 (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

I have noticed that running the native application (WinTV2k) can lock up parts of the card. I suppose that the Hauppauge recording service could cause problems also. If I run WinTvCap for my PVR250 card then the order I start the recordings can make a difference. There is also a service that Hauppauge installs that caused a problem for me (HauppaugeTVserver). I think it is a helper application for the MediaMVP.

If the tuner locks up or gets locked out, then it may be necessary to do a full power down to get it to reset (even AC power long enough for the voltages to drain off the PCI bus)

Have you tried any of the driver versions over at shspvr.com? (hcw18bda.sys in particular) Drivers are still fairly immature. (IMHO)

zaphod7501,

I tried changing bda.ini as you suggest and also pulling power for a few minutes and it still doesn't work. I did run WinTV2000 I think before I had this problem and it didn't work either.

Could the card be bad? As I said, Digital works fine. Can't get analog to work. Should I uninstall all the software that came with the card? I couldn't get to the web site, it must be down.

It's been a fun day so far.

I shut down my system for 30 minutes or so and then tried to bring it back up. The PC wouldn't come back up because the supply died. After replacing it, I tried recording again and got the same problems. I then downloaded the latest drivers from Hauppauge. The WinTV2000 now was able to scan for channels (digital) but couldn't scan analog (the original software wouldn't scan at all). I then deleted and reinstalled all of my capture sources in GBPVR.

I then re-setup the S video analog source and still couldn't get it to work. I was 2 minutes from removing the card to take back to the store when I decided to change the analog input to tuner. All of a sudden it started to work. I reset everything and now it is working fine again. I can watch and record analog and digital (even at the same time).

I think your theory that something in the card got locked up was correct. Hopefully this doesn't happen again, I don't want to have to go through this again.

Thanks for the inputs.
