First post in this, as it seems, excellent forum.

I got my Hauppauge HVR-1300 setup with GB-PVR (using only the digital part of HVR-1300), and it all works excellent. Though I recently stumbled over something that I do not really know how to solve, if at all possible.

Sometimes there are TV-transmittions that start in 16:9 (announcements etc.) and I then start my recording; then the actual show starts, and it is broadcasted in 4:3.... This leaves me with a file that get's out of aspect for the later part. Is there any way of fixing this, and if so - how is it done?

Can the mpg change AR halfway through creation?

As long as you're in the 'auto' aspect ratio, and have explicitly selected your video decoder rather than relying on 'System Default', then GB-PVR should auto detect changes to the aspect ratio, and change things to accommodate.

Yes.

Sorry for not providing necessary details in my first post. Turns out I was wrong on a number of points:

My problems are on playback of the recorded files in Xbox (XBMC), and it seems as if the captured file is not MPG, but DVR-MS.

As it turns out I am not able to alter the capture settings using a 'BDA Recoding Plugin' specified as a 'Recording Source' in the Config tool. Should it be this way? From what I have read I am supposed to use 'BDA Recoding Plugin' as a 'Recording Source' for the Digital part of HVR-1300?

So my scenario is then:

I record a file (initially in 16:9 format, that then switches 4:3) to using the above specified settings that then ends up on an external HD
The Xbox accesses the file and the 16:9 part of the file looks OK, but when it switches to 4:3 it gets out of aspect

The files get very large BTW, most likely since I cannot change the capture setting.

Any ideas? Is my scenario at all understandable?

The mux determines the file type. If you want a .MPG file then you'll need to download and install the Cyberlink or ATI mux.

What exactly are you wanting to change? Yes, you use the 'BDA Recording Plugin' when you're using the digital side of the HVR1300.

When you're recording from a digital device, GB-PVR just writes the original broadcast audio/video stream to disk. The size of the recording is determined by the broadcaster in this respect.

Not really. The question isnt clear to me.

OK. I am beginning to understand. The BDA Mux Checker states that I have no Multiplexer installed, so I guess I need to go hunting.

As for the scenario (wanting MPGConfused, rather): I would like to use AutoGK for Xvid/DivX conversions (on some files), and DVR-MS is not a supported format.

Thanks for your help, I think I am on the right track now.....
