Hi Greg,

I think the proper fix depends if you are running service pack 2 or 3. Also, while researching this I found mention of the most recent update being released in August and it was recommended over the one released last December. I don't have the fix number handy, but I would suggest just using Windows update as it should scan your system and know what patch is the appropriate one.

Did yours bomb out at 7pm too?

TTYL,

Steve

Yea, at 7 last night there was a small show from 7 to 7:01 so the highlight semed to go away then the guide was a hour off today. I ran the fix reloaded the guide and looks ok now.

it's really just a registry entry, so shouldn't have any problems with service packs..
i forgot to update one of mine and it got bit, time had changed automatically..
so i just ran the reg file and updated time from the net and updated epg and all was fixed..

it updates the table windows gets the time change from, but you have to 'reset' the time zone by changing it to another zone and applying, and back, so windows reloads the new table..
can be checked by running tzedit.exe from resourcekit and look at bottom, it shows change dates as windows sees them..

reg file included..good for all US timezones..

Hi Davde,

Yep, it's a real puzzler isn't it! System and GBPVR time is ok but the epg is off an hour! EPG clearing and reloading, etc. doesn't fix it - schedules direct doesn't seem to have any time zone settings . . . pretty much leaves you out of things to check!

It was especially puzzling for me as I was playing with an epg enchancement program at the time so I was wondering if something I did broke it!

Sub was johnny on the spot trying to help but he couldn't reproduce the problem and I may have muddied it up a bit as I was wondering why I evidently had two programs entered at the same time - that kinda puts ya on the bad data track when it's really a epg is an hour off issue.

I really don't understand why M$ didn't put this fix into service pack 3 - why woudn't they?

I also don't understand why M$ has two different patches for this depending upon whether you have sp2 or 3 but evidently there's one fix that will work with either. Strange!

Oh well, no matter - we've identified the problem, documented it here so hopefully the next time this happens people will be able to find it via a forum search, and most importantly we've figured out how to fix it!

THANKS to Sub and all who've helped sort this out! (and SHAME on M$for the way they've handled fixing this!)

definately a puzzler, thought it was something to do with my noobish pvr skills lol. Even more funny, last night , before reading your posts, i gave up trying to fix the issue 2 min before program my wife wanted recorded was to start. Instead i quickly set up a manual record on channel she wanted and the time. Then came here , read for a few minutes, d/l your fix, installed, upped new epg, which restarted recording service and kinda hicupped the first few minutes of her show...lol. Then to cap it off, the power went out (believe it or not, SNOW with high winds...and it's only october lol) with 15 minutes left in her already shortened program and we didn't get to see the end.
all in all a bad night for pvr viewing...but still happier you guys fixed my tv guide,id hate to have to start schedueling recordings an hour off til spring...d

Haven't had the guide problem you guys are talking about, but I am going to try an interesting experiment tonight. I am recording 4 shows, starting at 11:00 PM, 12:00, 1:00AM and 2:00AM. 2:00 AM is the time Daylight Saving Time ends in the US, should be interesting!!

Mine switched at 7pm cst last week so you may want to do some evening recordings too!

I'd forgot about the time changing this weekend - hope all goes well!
