Upgrading to NPVR... I can get the interface up on the PCH, but get a black screen when try to play any video. No audio either. Was working great on GBPVR. GBPVR services are disabled.

The syntax looks, ok, and I am surprised, it doesn't find configured shares on you NMT, I will assume they are there.

You don't have all the logs there (there are .1 .2 and .3 in NPVR) so there's not much to go on. Do you allow NRecord.exe through your firewall on the local LAN?

Those logs were taken directly after a service restart, PCH launch and video play attempt. I rebooted my PC and the PCH and now everything works.?.

I noticed that some lower quality .mpg material looks noticeably worse, but .ts stuff great. Any ideas on that?

Also, do I adjust the PCH overscan using the MVP settings in config.xml?

You are not the first to report that the restart was required to get the web server working.

If you are talking mpeg playback on the PCH nothing has changed in this client over GBPVR.

Yes, you adjust for the new NPVR skins in config.xml. Normally I'd say copy your GBPVR setting but they don't really follow the rules of 2X+W = 1280 and 2Y+H = 780. X and Y must be divisible by 4 too.

One thing you might want to try is using 1080i instead of 720p for you PCH out. I find the OSD looks much nicer especially now that it doesn't flash.

Hmm... With the low quality mpg, there seems to be a flicker, especially around text. I'm going to test the crappy mpg stuff directly through the PCH to see how it compares. Perhaps I was just imaginig it late last night.

I kept the config at 720 because my TV's stretch mode for 4:3 material is surprisingly pretty decent but is not available in 1080i/p, although this is becoming less of an issue.

Can't you just use the PCH's stretch mode at 1080p or is the quality that match better at 720p with?

IIRC, the PCH stretch just does a sloppy stretch whereas the TV uses a better algorithm to make for a more natural looking picture. That notwithstanding, I also remember having problems with the PCH stretch, but don't remember what it was. I think that the setting didn't stick? I can't remember, but it was deal breaker. I'll check it out again. But seriously, on a 47" TV @ +12' away, it takes a keen eye to detect the difference between 720p and 1080p, granted though, a trade off nonetheless. I wouldn't do it on my projector.

You can certainly set the NMT default to normal, stretch or centre-cut but if you use the TV's remote too, no doubt it will get complicated.

For picture quality I am not refering to video, I am talking the OSD over video. The EPG over video, and the info information, timeline at the the bottom look better at 1080i/p because mvpmcx2 uses the alpha channel NPVR sends. At 720p it is washed out.

Ah, I see. (Or at least I will see tonight)

I pretty sure that I couldn't get the PCH to stay in center cut (full?) mode. It always kicked back to normal or something like that.
