Hi

After some tricky setting up (XMLTV confused me and it took some forum searching to find what i was doing wrong!Wink i find that when i start GB-PVR from the start menu it reboots my PC, telling me XP had recovered from a serious error.
Of course i have no idea what that error was (thanks Windows!Wink
Now im pretty novice, but normally figure things out through a bit of trial and error, and much advice from great forums like this but i have no idea where to start on this one! Any suggestioons would be welcome.

Setup as follows:
K6/2 - 450 (i know but its old and does the job ok)
256mb mem, PVR-350, 10/100 ethernet, Radeon 9200SE (rubbish and pretty much obsolete card when i get GB-PVR running) Win XP Pro (no SP1 though? - dial up conn)
GBPVR: A64 X2 6000+, ASUS M2A-VM HDMI, 4GB ram, 8800GT GFX, 2x Nova-T DVB-T, 1x D-Box2 Cable reciever, 2x Wired MVP's, 1.0.16. Vista.
Plugins: MusicLibrary2, Weather, Int Cinema Listings, Burn DVDX2, D-Box2 Plugin, DVD Ripper.

Thats a new one to me.

If GB-PVR is set to use the PVR350 tv out, its sounds like the PVR350 driver doesn't like something about you hardware. Do you have an up to date driver? If not, head over to shspvr.com.

If even with the hardware decoder set to 'none' and the simple act of trying to start GB-PVR that cause you system to reboot, it sounds like you've either got something wrong with your .net installation, or you machine isn't very stable (bad memory?).

Thanks for the reply
I tried fiddling with the VMR9 settings and this stopped the reboot.

What are these settings for? and which should i choose?

Its an old PC but has always been stable in everything ive tried.
The PVR-350 was difficult to setup even with the installed software and it took Via 4 in 1 driver updates and the latest drivers to get a picture from it (i thought id fried the board at first cos nothing seemed to work, i was relieved when it did!Wink
Now i try GB-PVR it does not reboot (i have latest version) but i just get a snowstorm when watching live TV. (everything else works fine)

something is conflicting or missing but im lost as to what it is!

To setup your channels, look at http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin....2;t=565

GB-PVR needs to know which XMLTV-Channels are at which PVR-350 channels. You have to download the trial of Sagerecorder and let it search for all channels. Then you note the channel-numbers and enter them in gbpvrconfig under pvr-350 settings (there should already be a list of your channels imported from xmltv which some number beside each channel)
On the channel tab (last tab with the 1 2 3 .) in gbpvrconfig you can specify in which order your channels appear when watching LiveTV.

nice one JAK... problem solved.

Still have a few niggles regarding the radio etc but ive seen similar posts i should be able to follow, and its not a major concern as i hardly ever listen to the radio unless im being forced awake every morning!

One question if anyone might know, im running a pretty slow AMD 450 and old memory/motherboard and am thinking of using a Epia motherboard.
I notice my menus and channel change are slow on my current old PC
I want to go for the fanless 500mhz version which is cheap and i dont need the extra features from the M class, how much difference will the 900mhz-1Ghz Epia board make to this? is it worth using a better processor?

Thanks again for the advice

The fanless 500mhz and 600mhz EPIA will probably be slower than you current AMD 450. The EPIA boards are no speed demons. You really need about 1ghz to get decent menu and OSD speed.

i might look at a mini ITX mobo and a cheap duron or something (trying not to go mad on price!Wink

One other thing that is baffling me and i dont see anyone else here with a similair problem is when i exit Live TV, the menu screen flashes repeatedly and i have to shut down GB-PVR to escape it?? Same thing happens when watching prerecorded clips?

Cheers, good Program Sub.

The PRV350 problem is descibed in this thread: http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=2;t=614 It also includes a fix you can download.
