Windows has been updating itself over the last few days and now I get no picture from any tuner card and cannot even play video in GBPVR. I get the same sort of garbled picture on a PVR500, NovaT and when watching recorded video.

Video from any source shows the sort of screen corruption when a DVB channel is encrypted and you just see a completely garbled picture. (I have no MDPlugins in use and my channles and test video is not encrypted)

Other applications seem to work fine. I can play video and view DVB sources from other apps (eg DVBViewer) without problems. Is a recent change to directshow likely to have upset GBPVR?

Any ideas?

Have attached all logs and lastgraph.grf

I dont think the problems have the same symptoms - but they might have the same cause :-)

What video card is in your machine?

Video card is an ATI 9600XT and drivers for this are Catalyst version 7.2

After much experimentation I am now thinking that my machine is irrevocably broken and nothing short of a complete reinstallation will fix it. While DVBviewer seems to be able to give pictures from DVB-S and DVB-t Sources and plays video correctly - neither GBPVR or Zoomplayer can and even windows media player can not display pictures when playing a known good mpeg file.

Looks like merits on dshow components are not what they should be.

Yeah, it does sounds like something like this to me. Though I'm sure you'll find selecting some combinations of video renderer and video decoder in GB-PVR would work fine.

Found my problem was due to ATI display drivers.

I use Powerstrip to set up some custom screen resolutions for displaying progressive scan video on TV via the VGA connector. Usually this works fine.

But with the Catalyst 7.2 drivers the picture gets scrambled when the resolution is anywhere near TV type resolutions. It works OK with normal VGA resolutions though.

I went back to Catalyst 6.5 and all is well again.

Great - glad you found the cause.
