Codec installation problem, Choppiness building up problem

Still not able to make either GBPVR or PVRX2 work smoothly. I tried to install various different MPEG2 codecs to see if it makes any difference. Strangely, not all codecs are recognized by config.exe, among which are Bitcontrol, ffdshow, Elecard, and some others that show up in DECCHECK program. Should I do something special to get them recognized?

Another serious problem is the choppiness building up. No matter what codec/renderer/driver/... I choose, after random minutes the program starts to go choppy. Once it gets choppy, it doesn't go away after channel change or program restart. I have to reboot the computer. The log is attached. (I'm using HVR-1600, but I see the name of other card. Is it OK?)

BTW, I'm using onboard graphic of 690G chipset (stripped down Radeon X1250), 2GHz AMD dual core, 2GB ram. I tried to overclock it up to 2.5GHz, but it didn't help solving the choppiness problem. Any help is appreciated.

It has a preconfigured list of decoders it looks for. You can add your additional decoder names to the <SupportedDecoders> setting in config.xml if you want them to be listed in the config app.

It might also be worth looking at your audio decode/renderer. These are used for timing and can sometimes cause choppiness.

All the video codecs I installed are in that list, but still they don't show up... And, what are the recommended list of audio codecs/renderers? Will it be worth updating (actually downgrading) quarts.dll file, which is known to be problematic? I did it before but it didn't make any difference though.

You dont have the names exactly right then.

Most people find any of them work well, but we get the occassional user that needs to use a specific combination to get things working smoothly. Just try 'em all to see if you get any difference.

A consistent symptom associated with the building up choppiness is that if I monitor the pvrx2.exe using process explorer (a tool to monitor processes running in Windows - google it and you can find it), the I/O bytes of pvrx2.exe drops from about 10KB (when there is no choppiness) to 6KB (maximum choppiness). This is "always" the case when choppiness starts to show up. Do you have any idea what this I/O thing is associated with?

Sub, changing audio renderer did solve the choppiness in audio playback! Thank you.
Those who have choppiness problem with both audio and video, try to change the audio renderer (esp. from DirectSound to something else.)

Now I have to deal with the video choppiness problem. It might be my under-powered hardware, or another suboptimal settings.

you can try changing the refresh rate of your card and the lock the vertical sync to always on and turn off all 3d acceleration on your video card(as best you can anyway)
when playing back with try fse exclusive this can help alot
