Do you have any plugins installed? There was one a while back that had a bug which meant it was saving the config.xml regularly, from its previously loaded version. This meant that if you attempted to edit config.xml while GB-PVR was running with that plugin loaded, then it would overwrite your edits.

Other than that situation nothing should update the config.xml file except pressing the 'ok' button in the config app.

Yes, many plugins. Do you remember which one had that bug?

I notice I lose the settings when the MVP reboots, probably due to a crash in GBPVR.

If you run Vista the program that edits config.xml must run as administrator.

I run Windows 2003 here. I edit with SciTE (from the Scintilla project). My account is Administrator. After I save, I can FIle->Revert and I see my changes are in. Even from confi.exe I see my changes are in (MVPTranscodePrePlayDelay).

I also removed all plugin DLLs/folders under the Plugins dir to see if it was any old plugin doing this.

I still see the problem. After a while the defult settings kick back. MVPTranscodePrePlayDelay is back at 5500, and my -ar 48000 change is no longer in.

I think it has to do with GBPVR/MVP restarting/rebooting internally.

I'm sure its not related to the built in stuff, or we'd have seen other reports of it. I'm not aware of anything that would be overwriting this file other than the plugin I mentioned above (specific version of ML2 from memory).

Reproduce the problem though, and confirm you've seen it overwriten, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Could it be a vista-restoring-files thing?

HtV: Not Vista. As I said, "I run Windows 2003 here".

sub: I did have ML2 but had uninstalled it already. But I noticed the MediaUpdater service was still running despite the uninstall. I just stopped the service manually & disabled it. Let's see what happens long term now. The weird thing is, it was the latest ML2 for GBPVR.EXE (can't run PVRX2.exe on this PC). Actually... I use MediaMVP, does that mean that I can run PVRX2.exe? Can I install PVRX2.exe's plugins? The Windows Task Manager actually says it is running a PVRX2.exe (114MB RAM!)... Now I am not sure which plugins to get Undecided
