I'm using DScaler 5.006 as my filter of choice to playback mpeg2 files. It does an absolutely outstanding job of deinterlacing and when I play a video through Media Player Classic, it's crisp, clear and the movement is fluid even with interlaced film sources which seems to be difficult. ffdshow offers a lot of deinterlacers and I've tried them all, and IMHO, they don't stack up to DScaler.
Anyway, if I use GB-PVR to playback the same video (fullscreen, window, doesn't matter), sometimes it's great, sometimes it sucks. If i start the movie and let it run from the beginning, everything is perfect. If i skip forward once, it's usually still ok. But if i skip forward twice or three times or more, the picture will get VERY "jittery". I'm not sure how else to describe it, I don't think I'm dropping frames, but I get tearing and almost a "bouncing" effect during movement.
This SAME exact effect happens in timeshift mode tv (obviously, same filter).
Also, if i turn on "Deinterlace Filter" for Live Preview, i get the same issue. I believe the deinterlace filter is just a portion of DScaler correct?? If so, I guess it would make sense that the symptoms are the same.
Any suggestions?
I've got brand new ATI drivers (downloaded today actually). Turned off antivirus, moved swapfile, defragged, killed all other apps, VMR9/7/Overlay, nothing helps.
Again, this works GREAT in Media Player Classic.
Thanks,
Jason
