What operating system are you using?

WMP uses the default decoders, no hardware acceleration, and default renderers (VMR7 on WinXP). So you should get the same result by configuring GBPVR to match (set Playback and DVD decoders and renderers to default) and ensure the video decoder has hardware acceleration disabled when used in GBPVR.

csy,

CPU is about 50% using Windows XP.

I tried VMR7 with no luck. How do I do I know what the default decoder and renderers are? How do I disable hardware acceleration when used in GBPVR?

Thanks!

Download and install Graphedit. Open Graphedit and from the menu bar select File>Render Media File, and choose an MPEG2 file on your harddrive. This will graphically display the default Directshow filters (decoders/renderers) used.

The hardware acceleration setting is adjusted in different places depending on which video decoder is your default decoder. I need to know what is, so that I can give you instructions.

OK, it looks like it is Nero Video Decoder.

Thanks,

Have you tried setting the renderer to Overlay?

Well you have made a small step forward, in that WMP is behaving the same when it also uses the Hauppauge Intervideo decoder. I am surprised you are having problems with this decoder. I have had a lot of problems with the Nero decoder and would recommend you stay away from it while you investigate this problem. I unfortunately do not know how to correctly adjust the settings for the Hauppauge Intervideo decoder or the Nero decoder.

I recommend you download and install the Nvidia Purevideo decoder trial version, and try that.

Thanks CSY,

I did a complete reinstall from a disk image that had XP and all updates from about a year ago. I did a windows update with all updates and installed GBPVR for the first time and still have the problem. Maybe the video card is not working properly anymore (hardware failure?). The disk image I used always worked in the past without this issue. I also confirmed that my wired MVP works great so I know it is not the file or the second data drive that I use. By the way Sub, nice job on the MVP for this release, very responsive!

I will continue to pull my hair out for now.

Thanks!

OK, Nero ShowTime will play the files just fine but not in GBPVR.

I still recommend you install and try a differnet decoder, eg Nvidia purevideo decoder.
