The only thing that stands out in the logs is the use of the Ulead audio/video decoders. These arent common at all. In fact, I've never heard of them being used by any other user. I'd try using some other decoders to see if it helps.

Hmmm - the Ulead DVD movie factory software is my DVD burning software that I always use.

I think I need to figure out decoders and how to change them/etc. Looks like my defaults are these Ulead decoders.

I just can't seem to get this to work.

From what I understand Windows Media Player version 10 can play .dvr-ms files. My WMP10 does not play these files that I have recorded from the Fusion software so I'm wondering if my Fusion software is not recording correctly.

Would someone be willing to e-mail me a couple smaller sample .dvr-ms files that work? I would like to try them in my Win Media Player for more troubleshooting. I looked on the internet and couldn't find some to download.

Thanks,
GaretMax

Why don't you download sample HDTV clips from the dvico's (Fusion card manufacturer) website. It's tp file but it contains the same infor as dvr-ms. If it doesn't playback, then it's your decoder problem not the card.

My setup is close to what you have and I do not have any problems with my DVICo Fusion card. I would download the NVIDIA PureVideo decoder and then use the Microsoft DECCHECK program to change your decoder and try that. It took me a while to get everything to work but now that it does it only takes me a bit after a new OS install to get everything working again.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone,

It was a decoder issue as a few of you mentioned, so I am now able to play the dvr.ms files.

Here's some details.
- I downloaded the latest decoders from the Hauppauge site and they do not play the dvr.ms videos. These are the intervideo non-css decoders. The MS XP video decoder checkup utility shows this as non-MP10, (media player v10) compatible.

- The Ulead decoders that I had do not play dvr.ms videos. The checkup utility also shows this as non-MP10 compatible.

- I downloaded the trial version of the WinDvd8 program and am using the decoder from there and it works. This decoder is MP10 compatible. When I play these files in MP10, they do play.
(Question: What happens to the decoders when the trial 14 day trial period expires on this software that I downloaded? I've copied the Ivivideo.ax file into another location for future use in case I need to register this again if that works. I'm assuming this file is just for video. Is there a different file for the audio decoder or is it part of this file also? Is there an audio decoder checkup utility also? If not, how do we set the prefered audio decoder?)

It appears that in order to play dvr.ms files the decoder has to be mp10 compatible.

I'm going to try some other decoders as I have a slight studder on playback. I'm also currently defragging right now and need to set that up again for nightly defrag so maybe that will help.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction,Smile
