Verus Wrote:QAM tuning on my HVR-2250 is working fine with 1.3.7 on a Vista Home Premium x64 system. I'm using the v4.7 drivers from the Hauppauge website. Only issue I have with this card is on the analog side which has been discussed in another thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39125

The first time after a reboot, the analog tuner doesn't tune correctly and I get nothing but blue screen. If I cancel the recording or exit out of LiveTV and try it again, then it works fine until the next reboot. Almost wish we had the ability to enable a SubmitTuningRequestTwice for analog to fix this issue. I tried the pre-release drivers and I had more problems with analog.
I've just started noticing the same exact thing. Last night, only 1 show was recording and set to use the PVR500 to record yet it recorded to the analog 2250 and the file size was much shorter than normal and all I got was a blue video....no sound or anything.
I'm using the pre-release drivers of this card. If I do 4 manual recordings (1 each to the PVR500 and HVR2250) all is good. Freaky, isn't it?

Mike, last time I tried SageTV, it messed up Vista Media Center for me. Never tried BeyondTV and played with MediaPortal but I don't think MP is up to most digital cards just yet. MP2 is not complete yet.
In reading the forums at SageTV, it seems that the latest version is working with the 2250 but many still have problems.

Well, I'm not going to move to VMC just yet. I want to keep it simple so Sub can get some good info for troubleshooting when he gets back in town. I see Whurlston said he is getting a 2250 - maybe he can offer insight also.

I'm reinstalling GBPVR right now and am only going to install the 2250 and not the PVR500 tuners and see what happens. I just ordered an HDHomerun so I'll likely remove the PVR500 anyway.

My provider is Cablevision and a scan on my HVR-2250 finds the same number of channels as a scan on my HDHomerun. What I normally do is let the scan complete and then hit OK to save the scan in order to avoid any potential lockups. Then I go back in and start mapping the channels.

I'm not using any of the updated files from the survival guide (PVRX2.exe and NativeUtilities.dll). I am using the ATI MPEG Mux and not TS Mux, too many issues with TS Mux for me. Also, I pretty much left config.xml with the defaults in the BDA section except for the following:
<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnLivePreview>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnLivePreview>

I did add the following line to my bda.ini file under the [Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)] entry to avoid analog/digital recording collisions on the same tuner:
SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge HVR2250

The qam.ini file I'm using when I scan is the original file that came with 1.3.7 that has the 138 channel numbers.

If I remember anything else that I have done to get this card working or things I noticed during installation, I'll let you know. Let me know if there are any other specific settings you would like to know.

I just tried 1 QAM tuner using the default QAM.ini file (138 channels) and came up zero, zippo, nada. I'm going to try the QAM manager but doubt that'll make any difference.
Mike, when you finally found the few QAM you did, were you also using the default file?

No, I ran QAM manager and only selected the channels 70-138, but I have tried it all ways many times.

Question about that SHARED_NAME line - does it go in both the [Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)] AND the [Hauppauge HVR-2250] section, or just the QAM section?

Yeah, I have got to where I exit and save everything BEFORE I map channels for the same reason. Too bad there isn't an APPLY button that will save all settings without having to exit, and saving, at least on my system, takes about 20 secs.

I thought it was already in the [Hauppauge HVR-2250] section with 1.3.7 but missing from the [Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)] section, I just copied it and added it to the QAM section. I don't think it will have an impact on scanning but rather for recordings once you get it working but won't hurt.

Just curious, what devices show up in config when you select only show devices detected in this maching? I assume you are using the QAM device type since it sounds like you're on cable, if not that may be your issue. Not sure what else to suggest. My HVR-2250 finds the encrypted and unencrypted channels (with the asterisk), easily over 100 channels.

Hauppauge HVR 2250 and Hauppauge HVR 2250 (QAM) - I always pick the QAM device.
