Just An update on the process of this problem.
I was looking at the processes running through the task manager and I noticed a couple of programs would take over 100 of the cpu which made gbpvr very jumpy.
One of the processes was my antivirus scanning new files, being the recording. So I created an exception not to scan my tvtemp folder.
The second and most important was to set the priority of the processes, especially the recording service and pvrx2. I downloaded a program called prio from
http://www.prnwatch.com/prio.html
This allows you to save the priority you want to set a process, so I gave the recording service and pvrx2 a high priority.
Now I have no stuttering or jumping back.
I will let you know if this fixes the original problem but it has certainly fixed a lot of other problems that I have not documented.
