windows xp problem with web scheduler

i am trying to gain access to gb-pvr that is on a windows 2k desktop. There is no Firewall on windows 2k. I am still wondering why it will not authenticate. That seems to be the problem. It gets to the url sign on screen but gives you a invalid user id or password message??

Any other ideas folks... please...

I wasnt suggesting switching permanently, but more of test to decide if it was something wrong with your IE installation.

Personally, knowing what I know about the web site login process, I suspect the javascript on you IE installation is not correctly MD5 hashing the password for some reason.

I tried loading firefox and everything works fine with the browser by acess to gb-pvr. Again the url pops up but it will not accept my user ID or password.

any other ideas?? What about reloading IE.

I assume you have tried resetting your loginname/password on the server (just in case you spelled the password incorrectly, and it's something else than what you think it is)? :-)

Dude no need to get snippy.
Based on rereading this thread there has to be some third party software involved, something like a spyware or popup blocker, something that is preventing access to the required port on the machine. Let's just look at the facts.
You can map drives.. so networking is ok.
You can see the site...so GB-PVR is ok.
It refuses to accept the login...now if it does this from any machine you try the problem is some sort of security application loaded on the GB-PVR machine.
If some machines can login and others can't then the problem is some software that's loaded on the machines which cannot log in to the GB-PVR site.
So either way you have some software (and I'd bet a nut it's some sort of "security application" half which protect the user by disabling the functionality) blocking the access. It shouldn't be that difficult to find.
I'd start by temporarily disabling any firewalls, pop up blockers and their ilk you have loaded on the affected machines.
Just as a for example any of the major firewalls running on the GB-PVR machine would cause exactly the sort of behavior you're describing.
As a last resort a clean install of XP followed by creating a firewall exception as described earlier in the thread, followed by installing GB-PVR would cure the problem I'm sure, but that's awfully harsh medicine.
Just as a by the by is there any sort of router seperating the machines that can't login from the GB-PVR machine? They have built in firewalling capabilities as well.
On a final note Sub builds, provides and supports GB-PVR gratis (and he provides an awful lot of support on these forums) while your problem is a sticky one, if you feel somehow Sub has failed you perhaps you do need to find another free application w/ this level of support which suits your enviroment better. if I were you I wouldn't hold my breath while I was looking though. Before I did that I'd look at any third party apps which are running, I guarantee that's where the issue is.

Sorry if my comments offended you in any way.You've been posting about this same problem for weeks. For me it seems like if you havn't got it to work by now, you probably wont.

I'm also sorry if you feel like I havn't helped you (you do have GB-PVR dont you?). I try my best to help people out, but I'm pretty busy. I've got to hold down a job, continue development of GB-PVR, provide support etc. I've long since realised I cant fix everybodies problems. I'd need to be about 5 people to do this.

Having made 18 posts all asking for help and submitting no helpful replies yourself I would ease off the criticism if i were you.

I think I may have found the solution to your problem if it is the same problem I have had. In my scenario, I could log into GB-PVR web admin using firefox but not IE, IE would return an Invalid username or password message. I was accessing my GB-PVR web server from the internet when I experienced this. To solve the problem I have edited the cookies settings in IE to always allow cookies from the public ip address of my GB-PVR server.

Let me know how you get on with this.
