Anyway, although I don't like using it for my MPG decoder, it should work. I get stuttering with that. If it's not working at all, it's starting to look like something else is wrong. OK, I'm really new to graphedit, but many people will bail me out if I'm having trouble, but it might be time to see what you computer iks doing when it's trying to play First, you should have graphedit installed, It's free, by Microsoft, but usually only available when you dowanload and install a MONSTER sized sdk FILE. I have graphedit installed when I also have klite codec pack installed. What you can do is open GB-PVR. try to play a MPG, and then close it. Find and open the 'lastgraph.grf' file found in the gbpvr folder... I don't know much of what you can do here other than to send a copy and let us see what is happening. Another thing I do while tweaking codecs, is only use Windows Media Player (as SUB says, GB-PVR will play whatever WMP can play) (other players, mostly anyways, have there own codecs so that wouldn't be a test) Because the player plays in windowed mode, I can see tray icons pop up with config screens for ffdshow or divx or a few others. I use DECCHECK http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/Codec#toc1 to tell me if the codec is installed and used as my preferred codec. You probably have some other codec stuff left over and blocking your attempts

Yes, that's how it's spelled, and I agree it should work, but it has a special characteristic that it keeps two lists, one for audio and one for video, of programs it handles. You should add PVRX2.exe to those lists if you want it to handle them the same way it handles graphedit. This is important for debugging, which is where the OP is now. Quote:OK, I'm really new to graphedit, but many people will bail me out if I'm having trouble, but it might be time to see what you computer iks doing when it's trying to play I agree - graphedit is my preferred tool for debugging these problems. The lastgraph.grf file tells you what filters GBPVR used. I prefer to open and play the media file in graphedit directly, to see what Windows assigns for playback. It should be exactly the same as what GBPVR uses, unless you see in graphedit that Windows tried to use ffdshow and you don't have GBPVR/PVRX2 assigned in the audio video lists of ffdshow. Except that WMP does not always play nice anymore, like it used to. Newer versions of WMP may use different filters than selected by GBPVR, so things that play in WMP may not play in GBPVR and vice-a-versa. The best test I've found is to play any media file I'm having trouble with in graphedit. It shows me exactly what filters are used by GBPVR, and if it plays in graphedit, it should play the same way in GBPVR (unless graphedit selects ffdshow and you don't have the assignments above). You can try different filters in graphedit, and after you find a combo that works, you can change filter merit so Windows will use your new combo when GBPVR tries to play that file. Basically, loading lastgraph.grf into graphedit will let you load in the filters that GBPVR was assigned to use for the last media file it played, while loading the media file directly into graphedit causes graphedit to be assigned filters for that media file. Those two filter assignments should be the same, but it's easy to check (and I've only seen it different when ffdshow is involved).

Ok, I opened a file that I recorded in PVRX2 if this helps, and here is the view on graphedit:

Did you try setting the affinity to use only one core of your processor? Just start GBPVR in windowed mode, do a crtl-alt-del to pull up the task manager then I think select processes and then your program and then right click? (I'm not on a machine I can do that with right now so I'm exactly sure how I did it) and then you can choose affinity and deselect one of the cores.
Also, a friend and I were discussing this and he said he's had a bad memory stick do all kinds of weird things -> and this is one of them! Maybe run a test on your memory? |
