I didn`t know, Nvidia allowed you to set custom resolutions, I`ll have to give it a go at 1366x768 @50hz and see what happens. Hopefully it wont damage it.

Unless someone else fancies being the guinea pig :-)

I`ll give it a try tomorrow, I`m away till then

Cheers

Pete

it wont damage it you will just get no pic if it doesnt work then revert back
i tried adding the resolution you laughed at to my card but it wouldnt let me
it would let me add 720x480@50hz though (crt tv using component so dunno if i had lcd plugged in weather it would let me. I havent got lcd tv thats why im here asking questions and sharing my findings)

Hi just tried it and I just get a blue screen so my LCD wont accept 1366*768@50hz.

So the only 50hz resolution I can use is 1280*768 and 1920*1080 but only selected as a HD input and then the screen oversizes.

But to be fair at the moment I`m quite happy running at 60hz, Its running pretty well at the moment, I still have slight blur, but hardly noticeable at all, even the sky sports ticker is running smoothly, Not as smooth as running at 50hz but there isn`t much in it.

Just wanted to share my experience with an LCD that does 1:1 pixel mapping over VGA or DVI-HDMI. Like you, I did notice the slight juddering on the news tickers, and panning shots, and attributed this solely to the PAL @60Hz issue.
However I had only tried DVI-HDMI, and when I finally got a decent VGA cable I was suprised to find that video is smoother - even though both connections are set to the same 1360*768 resolution:confused:
No idea why this is, but the judder is almost non-existant over VGA. Maybe my video adaptor or drivers are more tuned for analogue CRT displays than digital? Anyway worth a try to see if you notice a difference...

because hdmi is digital and vga is analog
i had that few years back with my projector
changed video card and then there was less difference
video drivers can change this aswell
one good thing about having the choice of either you can see which you like best and stick with that rather than having to try and fix it
nvidia cards seem better with digital
and ati i have found better with analog
just my experience

FWIW, I have been very happy with my LCD TV, connected over VGA from an ATI 9600,

Hi Just a update
I`m now using this little program called resolution changer
from here

http://www.12noon.com/reschange.htm

now when I start gbpvr it changes the resolution to 1280x720 at 50hz
and when I exit it changes it back.

I now have a judder free system, brilliant!!!

So in summary, I should image this applys to most LCD`s
If you connect using HDMI/DVI you should be able to use 1280x720, making the TV think its got HD input and allowing 50Hz, Just use this program to change back and to the resolutions and refresh rates you want

Cheers

Pete

Wow, I didn't realise this was such an issue for people.

When I first got my LCD it was really juddery when watching football etc.@60hz, so just installed Powerstrip and set it to output 1360x768 @ 50hz. Bingo. Surprised there's TVs out there that won't accept 50hz via VGA

Yes it's an issue for many - and each new development in video / LCD technology brings new problems. If you have a look through
http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php
you will see that juddering is one of the most posted about issues.
In 2001 MS issued the following paper, asking video card makers to get their act together:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/archive/VidSynch.mspx
For years there was an issue with CRT monitors not synching down as low as 50Hz, which meant you could not get 50Hz on the TV-out (UK TV standard), and people like myself using the TV-out had to use third-party apps to achieve this - usually accompanied by many warnings about potential damage to monitor!
If you have American DVDs or video content then 60Hz is better...
Of the current gerneration of 1080i LCDs I don't think any can do 1:1 pixel mapping @50Hz over HDMI - and this is what the OP is using. HDMI does give a much better picture than VGA - IMO!
Now new problems have arisen with the new high-def DVD & Blue-Ray. These have a frame rate of 24, and some of the newer 1080p LCD's, costing a fortune, have bad judders with them - because they do not support 48Hz or 96Hz. Some even claim they do but buyers have found it just doesn't work.
So until LCD's are released that can truly handle any input refresh rate properly, I guess we will have to use whatever work-arounds we can:mad:

Interesting stuff Pob, cheers.

Looks like 100hz is the way forward for the UK, but as you say the 24p issue looks like it's not going away in a hurry...
