Mercury TV card with Phillips 7134?

v Hi, can i use the gbpvr program with my Mercury 7130 TV card which has a Phillips 7134 chipset ? I use WinXP also. Or can I get other software to detect my card, & how do i achieve that ? The scheduling software that came with it is sub-standard. Note: i also use Ubuntu (Linux OS) but haven't tried to get software (MythTV i think) working for it yet, i believe it is cumbersome...

Sorry, this card lacks the required MPEG2 encoder hardware.

You'd be better off buying a supported card like a Hauppauge PVR150 or ATI 550 Pro.

Cheers for the reply, but.... i downloaded the latest files from their website & i can record in MPEG1/2 & 4. I notice in recording in MPEG4 that it takes up very little hard drive space. Q. i this still doesn't help me, can u suggest another software that i can use, ie. ideally for scheduling??

You could try the SoftwareRecorder

If you do not have a hardware encoder the software will have to do it - CPU and RAM are more important than disk space

Yeah, i'll give it a go.
Q. what does 'sub' mean that it 'lacks the required MPEG2 encoder hardware', does it mean i have an MPEG1 type chipset but i can record using MPEG2/4, VCD, DVD etc. ? If thats the case, then bummer, as i was looking to get the Haup P150 card, & the shop didnt ave it...

This card lacks the hardware encoder. It produces raw video frames, and the included software tries to convert this MPEG1/2 & 4 on the fly. This type of card is not supported by GB-PVR.

GB-PVR requires a modern card with on board hardware MPEG2 encoder.
