After upgrading to v098.13b yesterday, and a quick reboot, the selection and playback of a recorded MPG from the library hangs congruently with the length of the video. A 15min video will sit cause the selection screen to remain frozen for about 20 seconds. An hour long video will cause the selection screen to hang for about 3-5 min. Then the video will begin to play. I haven't made any changes or changed selection for anything since the upgrade (although since the error occurred I've tried changing decoders -- but the attempt didn't fix anything).

Ironically, live TV starts right up without any delay....

HP 150, AMD FX60, NVid, 4gig ram, XP-Pro (log files attached)

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Long delays during initiating playback are often signs that one of the decoders or other directshow filters installed on your machine is taking a long time to determine if it should be part of the playback graph. It doesnt necessarily even need to be one of the components that ended up being used, it may have been one of the components that decided it didnt need to be used - which makes it difficult to identify the offender.

I dont think it would be related to the upgrade of GB-PVR, otherwise we'd be seeing a lot more reports of this behaviour.

You could try downloading and running GraphEdit, selecting 'Insert filters' from the menu, then insert:

- DirectSound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [A400]
- InterVideo Audio Decoder
- InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge

The select 'render media file' from the menu and select your .mpg file. In theory you should see the exact same behaviour as you're getting in GB-PVR at this stage, with some big delay, since this is what GB-PVR is doing behind the scenes. If this is the case, let me know and we'll see if we can work out which of the filters on your machine is causing this problem.

Ok -- I'll work on that graphedit (running out right now), but also in the meantime, all of my recordings (selected recordings for TV shows) are only recording "12 min" for some strange reason... When I sked an hour long program, only 12 min actually get's recorded.

This -- along with the previously mentioned issue have only begun since the upgrade to .13.

Thats odd. I havnt seen any other reports of this.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Howdy Smile

Well -- I got graphedit and followed these instructions exactly. It played the file immediately after I told it, but it also errored out the program with this error:

DirectShow SDK Filter Graph Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Graphedit continued to error out each and every time I tried asking to send data to MSoft about the error.

I can play Mpg's using any other player, but when I use GBPVR (only since the upgrade to .13), it "hangs" forever before playing.... Sad
