MVP locks up but keeps playing

Im still suffering with the MVP not responding to remote commands with 99.12, it seems to be after any number of button presses it locks-out the remote but keeps playing mp3, live tv or whatever. The only button that works is the green power button so I have to power it to standby then back on and all is fine again for a while.

It's happened to me a few times as well. Seems to be mainly after pressing forward skip over the adverts.

i dont use FF or skip, mines locks up in the following situations;

scrolling through menus - just locks up
listening to music - locks but keeps playing
viewing pictures - again locks up
watching live tv - cant exit but keeps playing

all of these require powering off with green button(only one that works)

I have the same experience since 99.12. It happens while navigating menues with the up and downward keys. I do not have any recordings going. It gives the feeling of a buffer overrun. It happens suddenly, and I can not yet reproduce it. Until I read this thread I thought I was the only one suffering from this.

I'm also having this problem frequently. I usually experience it when repeatedly pressing skip too quickly. Then the only thing I can do is use the power button to restart the MVP.

I've thought about looking for an alternative version of the MVP dongle...

The alpha version of mvpmc-dongle has solved it for me. It does need a bit of courage to install. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=26324 for all the things you have to consider. As usual on this forum, people are very helpful.

I have the samen problem. I have not found a solution yet. Sometimes it works just fine you can pause, skip of FF whatever you want and the MVP will respond. However it locks up quite often while the function (picture, music, watching recorded show) keep running.

So... the green button is quite often my friend against his will....

I just tried the dongle that comes with v0.99.05 and found it much more stable than v0.99.12. I recommend that other people who are having problems with their MVP becoming despondent give v0.99.05 a try.

I'm still thinking about trying the mvpmc alpha, but I don't know if there is anything to gain. Do you guys know of any benefits?

PS My MVP is wired: Model 86001 Rev E1M

Changing to an old dongle makes this problem less frequent but not disappear all together and brings back the frequent disconnects of the MVP......still waiting for sub to look at getting the latest version running without freezing the remote.
