60hz HDMI LCD TV - A Problem?

I've bought myself a shiny (really!) new 32 inch Samsung LE3288BDX TV that will accept a DVI->HDMI or VGA input at 60Hz @ 1366x768.

Now, having read various horror stories over at the media portal forums I'm back here where I started originally - with GBPVR. Great product btw Sub, I love how far along it's come in the past year.

My question is simple really, am I going to have problems watching Freeview (PAL ) TV from my PC since 60Hz isn't a multiple of 25? There's no way the TV will accept a 50Hz refresh rate so without any form of trickery I'm worried that I may be stuck with jerky-vision if I keep this thing.

Anyone had any similar experiences? I'd really like to keep this TV if I can get it to display a smooth sky news ticker.

GB-PVR doesnt play much of a role in this aspect you're interested in - most of this behaviour will come from VMR mixer and your video card.

You are correct that a PAL 25 fps ticker will not look as smooth on a 60Hz TV as it would on a 50Hz TV. It does a pretty good job, and usually people wouldnt notice, but it can stand out on tickers.

You can look at post processing filters like ffdshow to help smooth things a little, but the reality is that the PAL source material wasnt filmed to playback at that 30/60Hz.

have you tried changing it to 1280x768, when I do this on mine it thinks its recieving a HD input rather than a PC input and 50Hz becomes available in the options on the pc, and when viewing the ticker on sky sports news run`s very smooth. (I think to do this the connection needs to be DVI to HDMI)
The only problem is, if your using it as a pc the screen is not as good as 1366x768 and the screen is oversized.

Does anyone know if theres a way to automaticly change the pc`s resolution and refresh rate when you start GBPVR and to chance it back when you exit it?

Also Sub should the ticker be smooth on 75Hz because 60Hz seems better than 75Hz but 75 is in multi of 25

let me know what the picture is like im looking into getting a new lcd tv
went to look at them last weekend but got into argument with salesman
he was trying to tell me that a megapixel wasnt to do with resolution ie 1368x768 which was fine
but then he told me 2 megapixels was still the same resolution

plus the signal they were putting into the tv was crap so i told him so
i didnt handle it very well
but salemen are just dicks that know nothing about what they are selling

petewxm - I'm quite interested in your point, if I can manage to get the TV to see a 50Hz resolution I think the battle should be won! Are you using a Samsung LCD?

Also, iirc powerstrip should offer the functionality you're after. I haven't used it in a while though.

No its a Philips, but I should imagine it will be the same, Once I change it to 1280x768, A option comes available in the menu on the TV, HD or PC, If I select PC the screen resizes and fits correctly but the only refresh rate`s available are 60, 70, 75, 85 but if I leave it as HD the refresh rates available are 50 and 60.
I cant see why you can`t make the LCD think its a HD input.

(not sure if "start /wait" is required as I haven;t tested this)
