Hello there,
I'm hoping this is just a newb problem and I'm missing something obvious. I have a WinXP SP2 box which previously had a working 0.99.12 setup with Zap2It which I just barely found out today was going away. That's what prompted my update attempt.

I backed up my db3 and config.xml files, uninstalled 0.99 and did a fresh install of 1.0.16 and the new C++ runtime. I've copied the patched GBPVRBackendCommon.DLL from the Survival Guide to my GBPVR directory overwriting the old one, and registered a SchedulesDirect trial account, but I'm still getting an error when trying to update my EPG:
System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error

I figured either there was a problem with SchedulesDirect (Possibly, but doubtful) or I still didn't have the new DLL setup correctly so I gave it a couple reboots and tried to register it with 'regsvr32' in both c:\gbpvr and c:\windows\system32 but that fails as well, and still no dice. I don't think I even need to register a .Net DLL, but that's the limit of my knowledge. So now I'm at a loss. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.

EDIT: Zipped Logs folder attached per scb147's recommendation.

You should zip up the log files in your logs folder and post them so sub can take a look at them

Sub is the one that makes the most sense of this, but
your log seems to indicate that your capture card isn't installed quite right.

This specific error typically indicates an error happening at the server end (ie Schedules Direct).

Have you added a lineup on the Schedules Direct website, and enabled the channels you want?

Doh... yeah, that was it. I knew it would be something stupid. Thanks for the help on this.

Just switched to SchedulesDirect from zap2it this evening.

When I installed 1.016 I installed the one c++? updater first after quitting gbpvr, the recording service, and the start bar tool, then installed 1.016. Worked fine the last couple weeks.

Tonight I wiped the existing EPG, added schedulesdirect login info, I get a failed lookup for a.really.long.schedules.direct.site.name. I thought I'd read that came from failing to install the little update?

and despite failing lookup for xxx.xxx.schedulesdirect in the error box, the config "updating epg" box still references zap2It.

Same results after removing everything in the capture sources- the tuner entry for the 350, etc- and starting fresh.

What can I manually edit/delete in config files?

EDIT: here is a log file snip, after I'd removed all tuner entries, rerun config.exe, added just 1 entry, and set it to use SchedulesDirect. It errors on the domain lookup then tries zap2it anyway, even though nothing should remain regarding zap2it? I didn't see a post that said I had to manually adjust schedulesdirectURL but I'll look again. I've also updated the gbpvrbackendcommon and nativeutilities .dll's per the survival post, and moved the old ones out of the gbpvr directory. I'm running the new interface exe not the old one.

Well, even after removing gbpvr (old directory with 1.016 installed over it) with the control panel add/remove tool, then deleting the whole directory as the remove tool left it in place, then reinstalling a new download of 1.016 and applying the gbpvrbackend and native utilities dll updates, I still get the same problem with the host lookup.

Nothing on the schedulesdirect site about a change/problem there, and nothing shows up searching for schedulesdirectURL on the forums, so I'm guessing they are just dead? I'm done with it and will just run a scraper until I read that something has changed.

I loaded 14 days with the YA-scraper tool and I guess I'll try again in a week or so.

If this should be working, someone do let me know!

thanks-

Di you apply the patch mentioned in the first post in this thread, in the 1.0.16 survival quide and in several other posts with similar problems. I don't think you did based on the error connecting to

http://webservices.prod.schedulesdirect....irect.com/

The patch is here.

As mvallevand points out above, this error message shows you dont have the patch installed.

I did mention I'd put that and the other (3 updates in total) in place; I had seen posts about that type of error needing a patch. Which was part of what was driving me nuts.

After updating the EPG with the XMLTV listing, I did some other things for a while, then tried the SchedulesDirect one again- and this time it resolved.

Certainly could be an actual DNS issue with my provider I guess. I was getting tired of trying to find other things to troubleshoot. And it looks like some of the "zap2it" log entries are hardcoded and legacy; I was rummaging through all sorts of files and registries looking for something that wasn't being updated properly.

Anyway as of 12:30AM here it did update once, so I'm happy to see it all working.

Thanks for the reply!
