I have spent a couple hours trying to get GBPVR set up to work with my new HDHR but have so far been unsuccessful. The HDHR works, I can view any of the channels using HDHRSetup and VLC.

In configuring GBPVR, on the Capture Sources tab, I have set up both tuners, and have successfully updated the EPG using SchedulesDirect (trial), but when I click "Map digital channels to EPG channels", there are no channels found.

I'm not sure what I'm missing... Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using QAM or OTA? If you are using QAM, it's probably scanning the wrong frequencies. Try using the Qam.ini Manager I just wrote: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38408

You will need to use one of the center frequency options.

I am using OTA.

This is weird. *sometimes* when I have GBPVR scan, the tuner0 light will come on on the HDHR and scan will find a channel for every channel, 1 through 68, but they're all "X.3 Unknown1 (000(AC3))". And the scan takes a very long time. I just now did another scan, and the scan completed relatively quickly, but no channels were found.

Again, I can view any of the channels using VLC at any time, with no strange behavior.

Thanks for the help.

Edit to add that the GBPVR scan is slow and finds the unknown channels when I have HDHRSetup running. When I close HDHRSetup, the scan is faster, but no channels are found.

Are you running a software firewall? If so, you need to add exceptions for the following:

  1. GBPVRRecordingService.exe
  2. Config.exe
  3. PVRx2.exe

I am not running a software firewall.

On a whim I downloaded the trial version of SageTV. No issues whatsoever setting it up other than so far I haven't got it to retrieve program info yet. But all the channels work fine.

However, I would like to get GBPVR to work.

In the HDHomeRun Setup, do you have the application set to GBPVR? If so, run a scan with the HDHomeRun Setup closed, then one with the HDHomeRun Setup open. Then zip and post your config*.log files

OK... I am making a bit of progress. Smile

I reset HDHRSetup to GBPVR, and rescanned both tuners in HDHRSetup.

I deleted both tuners from GBPVR config.

I re-added tuner0, and updated the EPG.

I clicked "Map Channels" and low and behold it worked! I don't know what I did differently. It detected all the appropriate channels.

When I went to actually map the channels the app hung. I waited several minutes, then had to kill it.

I restarted Config, and thankfully the channel list was still there, and this time the mapping worked. Again, this is for tuner0.

I went to set up tuner1 and get the error "GBPVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check...". Then the Config app immediately crashes. I will include bda.ini.

Well, I thought I should be able to test out TV by using tuner0.

I launched PVRX2 and clicked "LiveTV" and get an error "No tuners are available to watch the requested channel...". The only thing I can do is click "Don't watch TV". When I go back into Config, I can verify the channel mappings for tuner0 and view TV in the small preview window.

So I have 2 issues:
1) Why can't I configure tuner1?
2) Why don't I at least have tuner0 to watch TV?

At least I'm making progress..... Smile

Thanks for the help.

Because this device has different names for each tuner, you need to have both tuners set as device #1.

Thank you, sub.

I was able to get tuner1 to scan.

When attempting to watch TV, I don't get the "No tuners are available message" anymore, but the window is black, with no video and no sound. I can preview all the channels for both tuners in the mapping window just fine, but nothing in the LiveTV window.

Probably something to do with a codec? But what? Attached is a screenshot of my current config.

Thanks again! I know I'm getting close. All apps should be this easy to set up... Smile

OK, this is getting frustrating..... I've been at this about 10 hours total so far. I can no longer preview any channels, let alone actually watch them. When I click the "Map Channels" button for either tuner, the full mapped channel list is still there, but there is no preview, and neither tuner light comes on on the HDHR. And I didn't change anything.

Advice please?

Edit... Apparently you have to "kick" the HDHR after a reboot by viewing TV through the HDHRSetup/VLC interface.

OK.. Now I can again view and hear the channels in the "Map channels" preview window, but can still not get ANYTHING in the main LiveTV window.

Thanks
