I,m fairly new to all this but have recently got gbpvr set up on a shuttle xpc system displaying on a 28" widescreen tv. Everything works brilliantly apart from i can't get rid of a 2" wide on either side vertical black border either in windows or gbpvr. I am using the shuttles onboard S3 Graphics/Tv out and have also tried a Radeon 9200 with the same result in any selectable resolution. Windows has set my tv as a generic television but i think this is wrong as it surely must need to be widescreen with a resolution selectable to suit a 16:9 display?? Has anybody else had this problem and is there a fix??

Try 800*600@60hz if you are in US. However that will just get you going. In the UK its 720*576@50hz. 800*600 will get you going though

Hi,

I use MVP with a widescreen TV with no problem. However I guess your Craphics card has some sort of output compatable with your TV. What connection is it and have you set your TV to be 16:9 on that input?

I know it may sound obvious but I can set my resolution on different TV inputs. Also you may have to override a TV Auto setting.

Cheers

Thanks firstly for the replies.
I have the Tv set at 16:9 on its svideo input and have tried all the resolutions with no gain at all. In the windows advanced graphics driver set up there is a positioning set up that looks like a round dial with + and - buttons for screen size up and down and left/right but they don't appear to do anything.
I have seen a utility called Tvtool and was wondering if that would solve my problem but would need to buy an Nvidia card for compatability but Tvtools website seems a little vague as to which cards work correctly.
Has anybody got any further info that may help me or some experiance of Tvtool
before i venture down this route??

Yes. You can't get progressive scan, though.
