OK, so I want to buy a TV card to use with GB-PVR.

What is the cheapest card I can buy? The front page says it works with the Hauppauge PVR 250 / 350 but these are quite expensive.

Does it work with the super cheap WinTV Go?

What aver acrds are best and where can i buy them?

Sorry no, the WinTV GO card wont work. GB-PVR was designed around features offered by the modern capture cards with onboard hardware MPEG2 encoders.

The Hauppauge cards are quite often on sale for a decent price. I only own a Hauppauge card, so it is the best supported.

Hmm.. I don't think I really *need* a PVR250 or 350, as they both come with a remote, which I already have with my MediaMVP. I suppose this means one of the other cards listed would suit me better?

The PVR250MCE from Hauppauge has no remote, but does come with a FM radio. I usually find newegg dot com has the best price going.

I am also looking to buy a card and would like an opinion on the Hauppauge 250 MCE version as above with the FM (I think about $125 from Newegg) vs the Roslyn MCE version which can get from Sage with their TV recorder software for $90 US. I know I want the latest -416 chip. What are pros and cons of the two cards especially if interested in making DVDs. My tv watching is mostly sat, so the tuner is not that important. I will probably build an IR blaster circuit to interface for channel changing/recording. Is there another encoder card option in this price range that would be a better choice? Thanks.
