I have the 4.49 VIA drivers, I will update to 4.53 - hope that helps.
Huw, I believe you misunderstood my idea somehow.
I suggested to use the call 'SetThreadExecutionState()' with argument 'ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED' within the recording service during recording. This will - as I assume - avoid sending 'powerbroadcasts' by the OS even if automatic standby is enabled. When using the method to simply deny powerbroadcasts from the OS in the program, then powerbroadcasts may already been handled by some drivers or programs possibly leading to unintended effects in case of bugs in the implementation of standby functionality.
Sorry to labour the issue, it`s just i`m new to TV cards. The box says that my Lifeview card will record in MPEG 1 and 2 format. I take it then that this is something else, if so in looking for a hardware mpeg encoder which is the one recommended (possible cheap as well).
Your card can capture to MPEG1 or 2 but this all needs to be done in software. My software cant do this, and instead relies on all the work being done by the hardware encoder on supported cards.
