Hello All

I'm getting this error very frequently when DVB recording finishes - around 30-50% of the time. Obviously the problem appears to be in MpgMux.ax, but I wonder if anyone else has this problem or knows of any solutions.

My setup is :

* P4 3.0Ghz, 1 GB RAM, separate 350GB hard disk for recording.
* Win XP pro SP2.
* WinTV PVR-250 with driver 1.18.21.22266 (22-Sep-2004)
* Pinnacle MediaCentre 300i with driver 1.3.1.15 (30-Aug-2004).
* GBPVR is 0.91.12b and I'm currently have the BDA multiplexer set to Cyberlink and have registered MpgMux.ax 5.0.0.727 (30 July 2004, 10:13:26).

I've set gbpvrrecordingservice to auto-restart on failure, but this can cause any recordings in progress on the other tuner to be overwritten - I know there's a wish list request for a fix to this.

I'm going to spend the rest of today testing any other MUX's I get can my hands on

Here's the error from event viewer :

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Date: 14/05/2005
Time: 21:09:08
User: N/A
Description:
Faulting application gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, version 1.0.1930.13102, faulting module MpgMux.ax, version 5.0.0.727, fault address 0x00018fcc.

Thanks, Sean

I've had no luck finding a solution to this.

I tried Intervideo's ivimux.ax 3.0.86.0 18 October 2004, 00:32:42, but the audio was out of sync by over a second.

Could not get GBPVR to use the ShowshiftWriter.ax 3.12.0.2945 from the showshifter 3.12.2945 eval version. GBPVR just locks up when trying to record anything.

For the moment I gone back to the cyberlink version but disabled the DVB recording source by unchecking all channels.

on my side, showshifter mux 3.12 wont work, but older versions (3.01.2557) will run mostly fine. I found the showshifter mux most stable, bad luck with cyberlink or intervideo.

livetv on mvp with the pinnacle 300i is still bad (much mpg-picture failure, often loose sync to sound). an twinhan sat card in the same pc, at the same time works well in this setup (as suggested with 1.9 drivers as well).

im not sure if there is a problem of poor pinnacle driver or if something not 100% on gbpvr. (btw, an great !!! programm, but in beta state Wink )

after all, since upgrading to xp sr2 the pinnacle 300i stops to work at all in gbpvr (failed to init bda source, or so). I noticed that some parts of the driver that are listed in the control panel are replaced by sr2 (versions), eg psidecd.dll an so on.

Does anyone have an pinnacle 300i (pal) with xp sr2 and gbpvr in use? it would be helpfull to know which mux is in use too.

Hi Joerg

I think I installed SP2 before installing the pinnacle drivers - Have you tried reinstalling the original CD drivers ?

I will see if I can download an older copy of Showshifter, unless some kind person wants to email me a copy.

I've installed the latest version (0.92.8), but the first attempt failed - Had to reinstall, but seems OK. Still getting the GPF's in the recording service.

I'm also having problems with Pinnacle 300i. I have Windows XP SP2 included and I installed the card after installing the system. Every now and then gbpvrrecordingservice.exe crashes when using CyberLink Muxer version 5.0.0727 and InterVideo Multiplexer version 3.0.86.0 results in sync issues and losing audio every now and then. Does anybody know if there's a version of either CyberLink or Intervideo that works with Pinnacle and GB-PVR or has anybody had any luck with using a different muxer.

Kristofer

[edit]
I just installed ShowShifter version 3.11.2872 (demo version) and configured GB-PVR to use SS Muxer. First time GB-PVR started to record, it asked where the config file was and I needed to point to Config folder under ShowShifter installation directory. The first test recording didn't crash the gbpvrrecordingservice.exe and the audio is in-sync with the picture. I have some problems scheduled for recording, will update how ShowShifter muxer works in the longer run.

[edit 2]
Have been using ShowShifter muxer for four days now and it works great. I recommend ShowShifter muxer for all Pinnacle 300i users.
