Please bear with me, my first time doing this.
I'm having two problems. The pvr computer is an old dell, dimension XPSt550, p3 550MHz, 384 megs of ram, winXP sp2.
The main problem I'm having is with an Actisys IR200L. I'm trying to use it to control a DishNetwork DV3 box (a real peice, but it's what I've got). Using the pvr computer, I couldn't learn the remote. Going to the new button, the channel 1 screen pops up no problem. I select COM1, which it is connected to, and I waited for five or so minutes holding the button and it wouldn't go past the ch1 screen. I tried this multiple times, it just pegs cpu at 100 and does nothing. I then installed gbpvr on my other good computer (it has no tuner, I was just trying to get the remote to work), and the first time I tried to learn the remote, it worked fine. I saved the file, and transferred it to the pvr computer. I still couldn't get the transmitter to work. I then went back to the good computer and tried to learn the remote again and I couldn't. I've tried everything I know, and I can't create the new file again, it just stays at the channel1 screen, pegs cpu usage at 100, and does nothing. I've tried uninstalling gbpvr and reinstalling, made sure the xp ir drivers were uninstalled, reinstalled them anyway, uninstalled them again... still nothing. So, is it possible to just copy the .ir file to the other computer? It shows up under the device tab, just doesn't seem to work. What else could be wrong? Just for kicks, the file I have is,
DEFAULT 59458 356
CHANNEL1 18 n fe fd
9 r fe
15 r be
CHANNEL2 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
15 r be
CHANNEL3 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
21 r be ef
CHANNEL4 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
15 r be
CHANNEL5 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
15 r be
CHANNEL6 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
15 r be
CHANNEL7 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
21 r be ef
CHANNEL8 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
21 r be ef
15 r be
CHANNEL9 27 n fe ff fb
9 r fe
27 r be ef fb
CHANNEL0 27 n fe ff fb
15 r be
9 r fe
ENTER 27 n fe ff fb
15 r be
9 r fe
I would really like to create the new file again, just to make sure the remote was learned properly, so I can narrow the problem down to something else.

The other problem, which I imagine is probably normal for a free service, is when updating EPG using zap2it, it sometimes takes forever (hours), or will just freeze at saving new channel information. Is this normal?

Sorry for my bad wording, and I appreciate all help and comments.
Thanks,
Steve

How many channels do you have in your channel lineup, and how many days worth of data do have it trying to retrieve?

If you want to email your zap2it username and password to me at support@devnz.com, I'll try it here. It should only take a few minutes.

Actually, I just tried it on my "good" computer, and it only takes appx 2-3 minutes. My old comp just may be too slow, it's been through a lot. It has a new hd w/ a clean install of XP, but maybe it just can't hack it. Maybe time to get a newer mobo and processor. I still don't know why the IR-200l won't work again, just that first time. Either computer, same thing. Maybe it's no good and i should just replace it...

Thanks for helping

Just to update on my situation, I uninstalled GBPVR on my "good" computer, re-downloaded the setup file, restarted, and reinstalled, and now it works properly. Don't know why, maybe I had a corrupted download or something, it was the same version... anway, thanks for the help!

Another update, I discovered a major error on my part. I bought a new hd for this unit, 200gig, ultra ata/100. My motherboard only supports ata/66. Very possibly the reason for these troubles. I'm going to get a new mobo and try this all again the proper way.
Thanks again,
Steve
