I just tried it here for the first time ever. I had no problems accessing a network share from the MVP when it was running as the localsystem account. I just editing my config.xml and set the following, then restarted the recording service.

Code:
<VideoLibraryDirectory>Default~C:\|[b]Eddie~\\Eddie\videos|[/b]</VideoLibraryDirectory>

My machine is not member of a domain or anything special.

That's really confusing then Sad I've tried it a few times and it consistently doesn't work for me when running on local system a/c. The shares are listed fine and any local ones open up and list the files, but if I click on any of the network shares then the MVP just stops responding.

I've stopped the recording service, deleted the logs and changed the service back to local system. I've then switched the MVP on and played a file from the pc running GB-PVR - this worked fine. I then stopped this and tried to browse the listed of files on the network share - this hung the MVP. I then stopped the recording service and I've attached the logs.

Could this error be part of the problem?
Code:
05/02/2006 21:30:33.185    ERROR    [173]    Index was out of range.  Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.

PS - I've tried accessing the network shares when running GB-PVR on the main machine and it's accesses the shares fine, but I think this is because a 2nd copy of GBPVR has been loaded with my user name rather than as SYSTEM (certainly in task manager there are two GBPVRs running and the recording service is running as SYSTEM). The GBPVR.exe running as SYSTEM is the one that the MVP accesses.

Try putting your network shares first in the list to see if it helps.

OK, tried that, sub - no change Sad

I've realised though that the MVP isn't actually crashing. The arrow keys stop working when I click on one of the network shares, but the back key still works. Also I tried leaving it for longer and it's like it's timing out - it then displays the 'index out of range' error that I pasted above (it actually displays it onscreen - I then click OK and it returns to the main menu).

Cheers

I recently had the same problem. My computer randomly crashed while i was using GBPVR and when i reset, I had the 100% CPU usage problem. It was quite a hassle to be able to get my computer back up and running, but in order to do so, i had to disable BOTH GBPVR and McAfee. Anyway, I uninstalled both and reinstalled them (GBPVR first and then a few hours later, McAfee). While McAfee was "updating virus definitions" the thing crashed and when it restarted, I had the 100% CPU usage problem. So, I had to stop GBPVR and McAfee again in safe mode, but this time I just uninstalled McAfee. GBPVR appears to be running fine as well as the rest of my computer. Conclusion: McAfee and GBPVR don't mix? I'm not sure why but it appears I can't have both. I just bought my McAfee a couple of months ago, but maybe it needs to be updated or something with GBPVR uninstalled.
