problem with the installer - every reboot

I have a annoing problem with the installer. Every time I reboot the PC, the windows installer is starting and wants to install GB-PVR.


If the GB-PVR Install file is not where it was during installation (I tried from desktop and from C:\) I'am asked to give the location of the file GBPVR09516.msi.

But after this setup is completed the application is still not working. In the Webinterface I have error you can see in the [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND].

Next step is to run the config.exe and hit OK without changing anything. Now everything works as expected. But all this is repeating after every reboot! :eek:

The strange thing is, that I had the exact same problem before on this PC. But there where a lot of other things to. So, I reinstalled the OS completely. Im running XP SP2 with latest patches. Language is german, but this is not the reason since before I had an english OS (XP SP2 too).

And Yes, I have full admin rights, .net 1.1 and 2.0 with servicepack anf hotfix as well as the msi-update WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.

I'm thankfull for some tips.

The msi installer typically pops up to try to restore something if a key file from the installation has been deleted.

Might be worth backing up your gbpvr.mdb and config.xml, uninstalling GB-PVR, deleteing the GB-PVR directory, reinstalling, restoring the gbpvr.mdb and config.xml

I did so, with rebooting between the steps. But the situation is still the same.
BTW, I noticed that restarting the recording service with rightclick on the tray icon will do too (instead of the config.exe)

No, there is unlikely to be anything in the GB-PVR logs.

Each time the MSI installer runs, it adds a message to the Windows 'Application' Event log, so its worth checking in the Event Viewer to see why it ran.

The Eventlog had entrys, but they did not help much.

But now I uninstalled Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1, and all is working. After reinstalling ActiveSync GB-PVR failed again. I then installed ActiveSynch 3.8.

Now all is well!
