hello,

i gave up using the tv out of my pvr 350 because of the freezings making me dizzy.

as the title describes: what should i buy?

my goal is to be able to watch recordings while using my pc for other purposes. i have no interests in gaming, but i do not want to use my agp slot with an outdated graphics cards.

thanks for your supplies

I use 2 MVP's on my system. A video card will give you interlaced problems when watching shows. Dont know the specifics about the XCard.

The XCard has a much better picture than a regular video card, but is a little more limited in the sense that it doesn't display the desktop and can only play certain format files, so it really depends what sort of things you need your PVR to do.

I was also considering buying another TV-out card because my PVR-350 kept freezing all the time. However after searching the forums I found that the freezing may actually be caused by an incompatibility between the current PVR-350 drivers and the motherboard. Apparently most motherboards with VIA chipsets and some motherboards with Intel chipsets will cause freezing. I read serveral posts from people who claimed that motherboards based on the nVidia nForce2 chipset work well with the PVR-350. So I bought one of these motherboards (cheaper than an Xcard or a new video card) and my PVR-350 has been working perfectly ever since. Haven't had a single problem yet!

In case you're wondering I have a Biostar M7NCD motherboard, an ancient Duron 800 cpu, 256 MB DDR, PVR-350.

hello,

@ stimpy

i did as you did. i had an mb with a via chipset, replaced it with a nvidia chipset based board. everything runs stable, gbpvr still doesn´t on the pvr350`s tv-out. using the tv-out of my video card i have no problems but the low picture quality.

@ sub

thank you, the xcard is ordered.
