Deframenting fixed a problem

Recently I was getting a new problem where gb-pvr would stop playing live tv and go black (whether in timeshift mode or not). It would always happen at the end of a show/the beginning of the next show. Usually at xx:00 or xx:30 since that's when most shows end/start.

After a defragmentation of the drive (only have one partition) the problem seems to have disappeared. Just thought I'd share the info in case someone else runs into the same issue. If the problem comes back, I'll also check the size of the database files to see if they have ballooned.

There is still a slight audio + video delay when gbpvr crosses a show limit (one show in the guide ends/another show starts). Now that I'm using a digital link to my receiver for audio, there is a pretty loud half second audio stutter at that moment. What's causing this stutter? Would adding more RAM help (currently 512MB)? Does anyone else notice an audio video stutter at the end/beginning of shows?
