Hi All,

I've just upgraded to 9808 and I'm having a problem booting my MVPs now. They start up, all the big 'loading dongle' boxes go through then they hang with 'checking for network status'. Occasionally they will say 'the wifi device failed to init' and then reboot (my MVPs are not WiFi devices). If I replace the dongle.bin supplied with the release with the original one from 9713 then all works normally again (obviously this isn't a good option). Has anyone else experienced this or are there any troubleshooting steps that I can take to find the problem?

Any help gratefully received.

Well, I've done a bit of testing and the info might be of use to someone. I have 3 MVPs and was only testing with one - when it failed I didn't try the others.

With no other options I thought I would just try one of the other MVPs and presto it worked first time! Tried the third and it worked too!! So this is what I have...

3 MVPs, all work with the 97.13 dongle. Now I find that 2 work with the 98.08 dongle, here are their respective details...

All are Model 86002
The working ones are REV E1 Lot 4703 and REV D3A Lot 4503

And the duff one is REV D3A Lot 5003

I'm not sure if there's any way forward for this now short of buying a relplacement - unless anyone has any ideas....

Thanks,

Colin.

Try this in the MVP part of the forum; you have a bigger chance of someone with relevant knowledge seeing this there...

Hauppauge had indicated this new dongle should work on all models of MVP, but I guess they were wrong. It does work fine on my H0 and my D3A (lot 4503).

As of version 0.98.08 I now have problems with MVP video quality (both live TV and recorded programs).

Whenever I have large areas of very white video, the MVP looks as though the tuner reception went bad.

This is on 2 MVPs, both D3A. One is lot 4503, the other lot 4303.

It does NOT appear when viewing the video with GBPVR on the computer or using WMP or other players.

My TV monitor (no internal tuner) istelf appears healthy -- I do not have the problem with DVDs even when connected to the same input.

Might these quality issues be related to the dongle.bin supplied with 0.98.08?

Yeah, maybe. I've not seen any other reports of it though.

You're always welcome to try older versions of the dongle files if you want.

I also found that the latest dongle.bin extracted from the MVP software bundle linked from hauppauge.com works fine with v.98.

Although it has that horrendous Hauppauge yellow bar... Tongue

I do like the volume level, file completion feedback, etc. I wonder if there is any way to turn the yellow bar off but leave the rest of the MVP overlay?

The yellow bar can only turned off in the newer version of dongle.bin which is provided with GB-PVR. This was the first (and currently only) version that Hauppauge provided this option to turn it off.

How are you extracting this?

It seems the only option is to install the software. 7-Zip will not extract individual files from the mediamvp_3.2.24206.exe file supplied by Hauppauge.

Thanks.
