After the installation completed and the config program was coming up, the config app crashed and when I ran it again it came up ok but I had lost all of my initialization settings. I copied the saved version of config.xml that was saved at installation and reran the config app and everything seems to work fine. Am I setting myself up for a problem using the older version of config.xml or is that ok?

(I'm sure this was self inflicted. I stopped the recording service before upgrading but didn't exit the tray app)

Yes. Your version of the app will be broken if you try using this old config file.

You shouldnt need to do this.

You'd need to uninstall the app, delete the gbpvr directory, reinstall the old version, then restore the config.xml and gbpvr.db3/gbpvr.mdb3. This should get you back to were you start so that you can try again.

If you were upgrading from v0.96 or earlier, another user indicated they needed to install v0.97 before upgrading to v0.98.

The config.xml that I restored was the one that was automatically saved by the installation program - it wasn't one that I manually saved. I'm not in front of the machine but the name was obvious. Am I correct in assuming this file will be the wrong format? I only ask this because everything is working quite well after the upgrade and I hate to mess with it if I don't need to.
Thanks for your help.

I have no way of knowing exactly what version of the config file it is from your description. If its a version from an earlier release of GB-PVR, then it will cause problems. If its a version from the new release, then obviously it'll be fine.

Well the end result is the config file is a 98.8b file. I copied the config.retained.xml file to config.xml (it was 97.13) and I guess the config program or the app updated the file for me since it's correct now. Works fine so I'm going on.
Thanks.
