When I use the left and right arrows on my Hauppauge remote to try and navigate a DVD menu, I get volume control instead.

I can navigate with the mouse, but, not the remote.

Try editing "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\KeyMappings\DvdPlayer.xml" and removing the two lines that refer to the volume and the left/right keys.

Man, I've got to dig around in all these XML files. I've been watching DVDs under GB-PVR for a couple of months, pissing and moaning because I had no way to select different language or subtitles (most DVD players have keys dedicated to that function). Wink

Thanks. It's working after I removed those lines.

So, I just got the Hauppauge remote last night, and I've having this same issue, but it's a little weird. What happens is this: on the main menu of a DVD (either a mounted .iso with daemon tools, or a real DVD) the directional buttons seems to work fine. But when I go to scene selection, the right and left arrows become vol+ and vol- keys, and the up and down dont seem to work. This is also true of a keyboard on the scene selection menu. When the keyboard arrows are pressed, they are also volume keys.
So, it's weird that it behaves differently on a two different menus of the same DVD. And it's weird that it doesn't work in the first place. I've tried editing DvdPlayer.xml and removing the volume lines. I've tried editing VideoPlayer.xml and removing the volume lines and none of that has worked.
I've tried the default DVD Navigation setting, and the CyberLink PDVD7 setting in the config and they both behave the same incorrect way.
Any suggestions?

Also, if anyone has figured out how to stop Daemon Tools from stealing focus from GBPVR, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks and Regards,
Brad

Sorry to drag up an old post, but I'm having exactly the same problem as the last poster here - left and right arrow keys trying to change the volume instead of navigating left and right.

It's particularly annoying as I have volume control set to external, so the only time I ever see the volume OSD is in this unwanted context.

I've removed all references to volume from both DVDPlayer.xml and VideoPlayer.xml in the keymappings directory and I'm still getting the same behaviour.

Does anyone know how to fix this for DVD playback, or alternatively how to completely stop left/right from being associated with volume across all of GBPVR?

I'm also getting this just on some DVD's / ISO's - on most others left right does just that - left and right in the menu Undecided

Same here. It's only some DVD's. I just removed every reference to the volume using the Left and Right keys from every Key Mapping xml file and the left and right keys still change the volume. Not sure where it's getting the mapping from.

The same problem as methane .

On some DVDs I have at home, first I have to choose language in the first menu, language options are in one row and I should switch between them by left-right arrows. In the second menu I can choose a chapter to play. In second menu, options are in one column and I can switch between them by arrows up-down .
The problem is, that I can't access options in first menu, because of arrows left-right changes volume, but doesn't navigate .
If I edit DvdPlayer.xml and remove lines with DVD_LEFT and DVD_RIGHT, DVD playback behaves similary, but in this case arrows left and right does not do anything (don't navigate and don't change volume) .

The second menu is OK and navigation with up-down works fine.

In Windows media player 11 everything is OK .

I've got several DVD's like this. Is there any option how to solve this ? If someone would be interested, I can place an image of such a DVD at rapidshare, for example.
