I have the PVR-500 configured and working. I have had both recording simultaneously, and the only promblem is that the very first video recorded is indicated to be ony 52 minutes long although it is about a 2 hr movie. So far I checked dtht the beginning and end are there, but haven't checked the middle yet.
Biggest problem is that when I press the skip button while viewing on MVP, it will skip any amount and it is jsut as likely to skip backwards as forwards. It works okay while viewing on the PC.
After recording a few movies, I dumped the Conskip files into the dvnz folder, but it apprears tht BGPVR hasn't recognized it yet. Perhaps I will have to move them into the GBPVR folder in dvnz. I am guessing that these files are not the problem since skip works OK on the PC

Any suggestions?

thanks

since a pvr500 is 2 pvr150 I believe you have the issue I use to have with timestamp issues. check this thread out

Yeah, that was my thoughts as well. (yes, PVR500s can suffer from the PVR150 timestamp error aswell)

My first PC was a Commodore 64 with a tape drive, so I have a a bit of knowledge about PC's. However, I have always been reluctant to change te registry, and have never done it. I've done a lot of stdupid things, but not in the registry. So I have a few questions first.

The timeline issue. Only one of about a dozen recordings has a timeline that appears to be erroneous and it was one of the first. All of the rest seem to be at least in the ballpark. However the one that is wrong, is one of very few that I have recorded simultaneously with another, so maybe the problem has not gone away, and I'll run into it again when I program two recordings at the same time. I believe that the solution that was suggested is to correct the incorrect timelines. right?

What appears to be more imortant is the eratic skip. To be honest, I have only tried the skip on two recordings, but it was eratic in both. I'll try more tomorrow. This eratic behavior is only while viewing on MVP. It seems to be ok on the PC. I'll do more testing tomorrw. Will the suggestions for correcting the timeline correct this problem also? or is that another problem?

Thanks

Yes it's very likely that the timeline problems also cause the skipping problems. I also think that the mvp maybe be more sensitive for this kind of problems.

The post that you referred me to is nearly a year old, and I'm sure that there are newer drivers avaialable. Should I load these older drivers, or the newest available? Is there something unique about the drivers in this older post to cure this problem? Regardless of which driver I load, these older posts say that it is necessary to add the lines to the registry. Is that the cure?

In the instructions I read for modifying the registry, they combine the instructions for changing and adding to together. They say to go to the registry items you want changed. They do not say where to go to if you only want to add some lines. Do you add to the end, or where?

Thanks

you can try the newer ones but I would try the registry keys first (remember to reboot after applying registry keys) Newer drivers fix other issues but might want to fix one thing at a time.

yes the registry keys are the major fix

here is a article on how to do it http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...stcount=78

There is also a way to manually repair the recording if you rather do that too. you can read about the differnt methods here.

The symptoms that I am trying to repair are two.. Although the recording appears to be complete, the timeline show is to be only abut half as long as it really is. Second the skip is very erratic, both in direction and amount. It can go foreward 15 minutes, then back 5 when the forward skip is repeatedly pressed. I spent the afternoon reading about adding to the register, and it is now done....I hope. The machine rebooted without any problems and when I look at the files in regedit, it looks the way it is supposed to. I'll have to record two or three videos to know. About 60% of my previous recordings had the timeline problem.

These are both commonly reported symptoms of the of the PVR150/500 timestamp error.

Pens18 aj,

How do you execute the notepad file after you enter the lines? I don't know how this gets into the editor.

Thanks
