In the new 1.0.8 there is support for .img beside .iso (thanks, Sub). But there is something funny with it. If I load a dvd image made as .img, it not only starts with the wrong menu, the browsing won't work at all.
If I recode it to .iso instead (nothing else edited) it works perfectly.

I've tried loading the .img in other dvd-players (vlc and powerDVD, the last is used in BGpvr as navigator) and the image do work there.
It's not a big issue, but a annoying one.

hmmm, there is no support for .img files. It'll only try to mount .iso files.

I'm not really surprised. I'm not sure how you got that far. You probably already had the image mounted before you tried it.

It's no mystery. In config.xml there is a setting where all image formats is listed. I just add .img there and then it loads the image as the others. I don't think this possibility existed in earlier versions. But I searched for it because of this post:

Sorry, its not that simple. The ".iso" file extension gets special treatment, asking daemon tools to mount the volume then initiating DVD playback. ".img" would require similar treatment.

Adding extensions to that setting is only really useful adding additional video/music file type. These .img files are not video files themselves, but rather an image that needs to be mounted before a specific type of playback must be initiated to play files they contain.
