I have since many versions (i thinke since i own my remote control) one problem within GB-PVR.
I am owning a Microsoft MCE Remote Control V2a and have this one selected in the config-panel. I also selected "Skip instead FWD".

So, the problem i have (in every GB-PVR versions) is, that if i use these both buttons repeatedly, GB-PVR/PVRX2 freezes. Then i have to kill the Task via Taskmanager, before i have to restart the application again.

If i press the buttons SLOWLY, then there's no problem. Only FAST pressing, or holding makes PVRX2/GB-PVR freeze.

What could this be?

Nothing springs to mind, but it could be one of the decoder you're using has a bug relating to the seeking. Might be worth trying a different combination of decoders to see if it helps.

I did check it here to make sure though, and its fine for me. I held down FF and quickly fastfordward all the way through a 3 hour movie, just releasing my finger a few times to check it resumed playing correctly. It worked fine.

Mhm, i tried already the NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder and the Cyberlink decoder. The problem exists with original DVD MPEG-2, with MPEG-2 from recordings and even with .avi container, so that i don't think that the directshow filters are involved.

It's also not new, i have this since i own the MCE Remote V2a (also with GB-PVR 0.9x Series). Perhaps there's a different between MCE Remote V2 and V2a? I am using the normal drivers given by the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP MCE (which are a must have, because otherwise the Remote won't be recognized).

I'm also using a 2A remote. This machine I just tested on is running Vista, but I dont remember ever seeing any problem with this on my XP SP2 machine in the lounge. I dont have any XP MCE machines.

Interesting, so you never needed to install something für using the remote control? I am also using Windows XP Pro SP2, but the german version is not able to recognize the MCE Remote V2a, so that i have to install the Rollup Updatepack 2 from Microsoft for Windows XP MCE.
Perhaps this can be the problem. Ok, thank you sub.

No, I never needed to install anything. The remote just worked fine for me with XP Pro SP2.

I'm having the same problem, but I always assumed it was the nvidia codec that caused it... I have the problem both with fwd/rew (10 sec steps) and replay/skip (1 min steps), but I've just learned to avoid the fast skipping Smile much more annoying is that the nvidia codecs deinterlacing sometimes fails when skipping....

Maybe you could use something like HIP to put a pause after a press on the fwd and rew buttons? Then if you hold the button down it'll skip, play a bit, skip again, play.... and so on, and hopefully it won't make it freeze.

HiP isn't working on my System. If i install the HiP Drivers as described in the FAQ of HiP, then the remote controll won't be recognized. Undecided

If i understand you right, than it's the case you're using HiP with it's own drivers and have these problem too? Interesting.

Well Smile I haven't actually tried to insert pauses with HIP, but I am using it with an MCE remote (it's a Microsoft remote that says model 1039 on the back... it's the one with coloured buttons at the bottom). I'm only using HIP to start and close the GBpvr interface, then GBpvr takes care of the rest of the buttons on the remote.

It was just an idea for a possible work around for the codec problem.

I've actually had the same problem and I'm not using the MCE remote at all but I am using the Nvidia Purevideo decoder. My problem doesn't seem to be consistent though. We had a really bad episode last night where when watching recordings when trying to ff/skip through comercials PVRX2 just stopped responding and had to end task and restart it. I've actually had it happen to me once when I was giving it time to play each time I hit the ff button (ctrl-r arrow). Is there a certain log I would need to post to find the issue?
