I have an XP with PVR250 and GBPVR 1.1.5. That is my streaming server.

I have a laptop with XP and the same version and it is running fine (LiveTV and Recordings with streaming)
I now have a new laptop with Vista and 1.1.5 and streaming LiveTV fails.
I can select LiveTV from the menu, the recording service on the PVR250 pc goes green but the screen on the Vista PC goes back to the menu.

Being desperate, I have copied over the config.xml from the XP to the Vista but the problem remains.

Another strange thing is that the changes I make in the Plugins tab in config.exe are not persitent on the Vista machine.
(I am Admin on all machines.)

PVRX2 log files show this:

Being admin does not mean that you have full admin privileges in Vista. Try setting the LiveTV folder to something other than the root like C:\LiveTV

I already tried setting it to c:\temp and setting it to the desktop of the logged on user but in the log file it still says:

About to play LiveTV File: C:\TV-1-120071222_1038.mpg

And when I enter config.exe again on the streaming client (Vista) it did retain the setting but still it points to c:\ ?!

Right mouse click config.exe and choose "Run as Administrator".

Try deleting the "c:\users\<account name>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory.

Doesn't help.
I have used Process Monitor to see what is happening and there are lots of entries like this:

CreateFile C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\~C: NAME INVALID

and a little later:

CreateFile C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\~C:\TV-1-120071222_1806.mpg NAME INVALID

Maybe that helps ?

Make sure you've deleted that directory, then reproduce the problem then zip and attach your logs. Also include your config.xml file in the zip file.

In a default Vista setup live tv won't work with GBPVR because C:\TEMP doesn't exist. The easiest thing to do is just create it. whurlson's suggestion will work too if you create the target directory. A big no-no in Vista is to write files to

C:\
C:\Windows
C:\Program Files

Your error indicates that you have got at ~C in there, probably by editing the config.xml file manually something you should also not do in Vista unless you know about running the edit program as administrator.
