Hi there, first let me thank you for such an amazing piece of software, none of the alternatives come close to what GB-PVR offers.

However i'm having a problem with MDAPI, let me explain the setup first.

I've got a windows 2k3 server with a technotrend budget 1500 dvb-c card working on UK cable. I'm running MDAPI with fenrir/yanksee. This is running the latest version of GB-PVR as a server.

I've also got a client windows xp pc running the latest version of GB-PVR as a client.

Now when I view the tv guide on the client pc it shows me all of the servers cable tuner channels, I can view all of the FTA channels fine. Just when I try to view an encrypted channel it just sits there doing nothing and a 0byte file is created in the servers capturing directory.

Now if i view the tv guide on the client pc and set a show to record from an encrypted channel on the servers cable tuner it starts recording fine and if i play it once its started recording it plays fine in the GB-PVR client.

When doing either of these the MDAPI icon does not show up in the tray on the server pc or the client machine (i assume it should be running/must be running on the server or the encrypted channel wouldnt record).

When i put the dvb-c card directly in to the client pc and view an encrypted channel they all work fine and the MDAPI tray icon shows up.

Any idea what is causing this?
Thanks for any help/info.

Hmm i just managed to get it working, I picked an encrypted channel it did nothing, i went back to the tvguide and picked the same channel again and it started playing.

I just noticed it happened on an unecnrypted channel then too, so it looks like its not a problem with mdapi after all.

More trial and error needed I expect.

Go into GBPVR config on both the client and server and make sure that the logging level is "Debug" with log flushing enabled. Replicate the problem and post your client's and server's logs.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I've attached the client and server logs.

Main problem now seems to be live streaming to the client is hit and miss, sometimes it works, next time it will produce a 0byte file.

Below is a list of what I did during those logs

Thanks again for any help.

--------------------------------------------------

Opened PVRX2, went to tvguide, waited for it to populate, tried to view an unencrypted channel from the servers tuner. Channel displayed fine.

Pressed X to return to main menu, went to tvguide, tried to view an unencrypted channel from the servers tuner. Channel displayed fine.

Pressed X to return to main menu, went to tvguide, tried to view an encrypted channel from the servers tuner. On screen display appeared as if it was playing, but only a black screen in the background, .mpg file is 0byte on the servers network share.

Pressed X to return to main menu, went to tvguide, tried to view the same encrypted channel as above from the servers tuner. Channel displayed fine.

Pressed X to return to main menu, went to tvguide, tried to view another encrypted channel from the servers tuner. On screen display appeared as if it was playing, but only a black screen in the background, .mpg file is 0byte on the servers network share.

Pressed X to return to main menu, went to tvguide, tried to view another encrypted channel from the servers tuner. Channel displayed fine.

Pressed back to go back to the guide, tried to view another encrypted channel from the servers tuner. On screen display appeared as if it was playing, but only a black screen in the background, .mpg file is 0byte on the servers network share.

Pressed back to go back to the guide, tried to view the same encrypted channel as above from the servers tuner. Channel displayed fine.

Closed PVRX2.
