After installing GB-PVR on my WinXP machine, I always get this message when it tries to automaticlly run the configuration program, or if I manually try to run any of the executables. I've made sure I have the .NET Framework and nearly everything else I've found suggested on the forums, but this is so early in the game that it's hard to tell (I haven't been able to run anything successfully yet).

I can uninstall the program and reinstall it (done this a number of times) but I get the same result. Anyone have any idea what's up?

Did you install the updated runtime from vcredist_x86.zip?

Definitely did. Could it be the fact that the MuxChecker finds no multiplexers? I would be surprised if that prevented the program or config from running at all, but I have WinDVD: why is the multiplexer not showing up in the MuxChecker to begin with?

I followed the guide on the wiki and have been scratching my head over this for a few days now. Nothing I do seems to help.

No, it wont be to do with muxes.

Is a config.exe.log file produced in the logs directory when you try to run the config app?

What version of Windows Media Player do you have installed?

Well, I was running Media Player 9, but just upgraded to 11 and reinstalled GBPVR, with the same results. Also, there is no log created as far as I can tell (there is also no log directory). The program literally craps out before it even runs, it seems.

I had the same problem as you mentioned on a couple of different installs.

One was a new XP Media Center install that I hadn't activated yet thus I didn't have the latest Window Updates installed, once I did that & installed all the updates including the .Net 2.0 & it's update the problem was solved.

The other if I remember correctly was one where I had installed .Net 3.0. Once I went back to .Net 2.0 I was back up & running.

Hope this helps!

Check the Windows Event Viewer for messages about why the app failed.

Ranger, I'm not using Windows MCE, but I've updated to media player 11. I've also made sure I've got directx 9b, runtimes, 2.0 .Net framework. After installation, Event Viewer shows "Product: GB-PVR -- Installation operation completed successfully."
