Starting with 1.2.9 I was having problems installing GB-PVR on my Vista system. With 1.2.9 I could run the msi file with the "/passive" switch and get it to work, but on 1.2.13 even that wasn't working...I always got an "installation ended prematurely" error. I uninstalled the old version hoping that would help, but it didn't. No services were left behind after a reboot (I'd seen that a "sc delete..." command was helping some people).
I ran logging on the install and one of the things it was complaining about was not being able to create a temp file. I am an administrator on my computer and have UAC enabled, so if there was a permissions problem it should have prompted me to escalate, but the system never did.
What finally worked is that I enabled the actual Administrator account in Windows and set a password so I could log in. Running as Administrator, the installation worked with no errors. The only complication is that all the shortcuts were in the administrator's profile, so I had to copy them over to All Users.
I guess it is some problem with UAC in Vista becuase my XP client machine has been fine.
