Ok - since going to NZ DVB-T I've had the old annoying intermittent jerky playback problem again. In the past I'd fixed this with the DirectX Quartz.dll but this time I don't think its anything to do with that. It seems to only happen on TV3 recordings, maybe C4 but when I've done some testing it appears never on TV1 or TV2. The weird thing is it seems to occur more on some programs than others - I hammered a recording of CSI:NY skipping back and forth and it wouldn't happen (often the way when you TRY to make something fault) having played with a few registry settings for the Cyberlink H264 decoder (version 8), but in a recording of The Simpsons it seemed to happen all the time...... Am I going mad? Is it likely to happen more on Cartoons??? Are non HD programs the TV3 is upsampling being broadcase without the right Bitstream Flag to notify the decoder that its interlaced.
UPDATE - I realised it had been constantly jerky watching Animal Academy from TVNZ6 with my kids (Animal mad!) to thought this flew Interlaced out the window but then I looked it up and found 1 and 2 are 720 progressive, TVNZ6/7 are 576 Interlaced!!! So it really looks like my problems are to do with De-interlacing (or lack there of?)
Has anyone out there had similar results to me - I've using a Gforce 9600GT and get CPU utilization between 10-14% even on TV3 so its not a case of the pc not being up to it I don't think.
Any input greatly appreciated to improve WAF - She wants to go back to Analogue but I am loving using my whole TV and the picture looking sooooooo sharp - its taken my Viewsonic 37" LCD from looking ok to looking incredible!
Thanks,
Matt
