Hmm new one coming....

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=34652

mvallevand - do I want one? Do we think based on the fact that it's the same chipset at the C200 that it wont be able to use mvpmcx2 but will be able to play x264 with HE-AAC-lC audio??

At $179USD and factoring about $20USD for shipping that works out about $270NZD - similar to a WD TV Live...and better the devil you know...

psycik, I don't have an A200 so I can't really comment on its suitability other than a note I made that I don't like the idea that it might have a fan. The firmware for the C200 is pretty good and getting more and more stable with every release and A200 users will benefits from that.

Personally I'd wait to see how it compares with the Hauppauge MVP HD which also supports NZ audio format when it is released simply because sub has one and his ties to Hauppauge are stronger than mine with Syabas. He's a nicer devil.

I have a two pronged need for one.

One client for bedroom = quiet, simple, small, just viewing recordings pretty much.
2nd client for lunge, quietish, small, Probably Windows7/ION2 based for main playback.

If mvpmcx2 was working on C200/A200 then that would be perfect for bedroom, but doesn't sound like you're getting a lot of support from syabas. So it migh tbe a matter on waiting as you say. Have a workable solution now by keeping the satellite stream going for the HE-AAC channels.

To be fair to Syabas, I never asked for any help on getting mvpmc working on the C200 (or the A200). Realistically it's not worth my effort at this point, given the extremely low demand for the functionality. For the most of the world mvpmcx2 makes a great GBPVR client and Lindsay has indicated that my suggested VLC transcoding of NZ files, (which would work in parallel processing too), can be viable.

Does transcoding work like the old mvp transcoding, or is it based on that web radio plugin that I saw being used? I should probably look at that as well, but I'd like it to work with the existing recordings view.

The WebRadio plugin work was just done as proof-of-concept to see if the VLC audio transcoding works for you, it only should take 15 minutes or so to set up.
If it does work, I would think the same command line should work in parallelprocessing.bat and it should preform much better than comskip since it just passes video.

So does the pch know to pick up the parallel processed file rather than the main one when choosing live tv/recordings?

In theory yes, live tv would take the most work. To see if it worth sub's effort try WR and select an progress recording.

Martin.

A small update on this. It seems Syabas are keen to have GB-PVR working with their newer devices, and have been in contact with Martin and myself over the last couple of days, and they will be supplying sample devices and technical information, so... its now sounding like we will see mvpmcx2 and GB-PVR on the newer devices in the near future. I wouldnt recommend people take that as a promise, and race out to buy one, but we should hopefully have more good news soon.

This is great news.

I did notice that on their product description page for the A-200 they list GBPVR as third party product that works with the device. I guess this is some sort of carry over from the A 110 description that is no longer 100% accurate.
Windows 7 Premium 32-Bit, Intel i5 750, ASUS P7P55D, 4gb ram, ATI RADEON HD 4550, 5 sata drives, HVR2250, HDPVR, COMSKIP, PCH A100, EGreat 34a, VideoReDo, SA 4240HDC
