Hi There,

My computer setup is:

Computer
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180
DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)

Motherboard
CPU Type Pentium IV, 3000 MHz (3.75 x 800)
Motherboard Name Asus P4S800-MX (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DIMM, Audio,
Video, LAN)
Motherboard Chipset SiS 661FX
System Memory 1024 MB (DDR SDRAM)

Display
Video Adapter ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES - Secondary (128 MB)
Video Adapter ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES (128 MB)
3D Accelerator ATI Radeon 9800 SE (R350)

HDTV Card Twinham DTV PCI card

Multimedia
Audio Adapter SiS 7012 Audio Device(on board)

I have ZoneAlarm Pro installed.

I live in Queensland Australia.

I installed the Twinham card because the AIW doesnt cut it where I live (rural setting) and am very pleased with the results (reception is stunning).
I am currently using DVB-TV as my platform to watch, schedule and record TV(cant seem to find a website for this software :confusedSmile.

I would like to try GB-PVR out.

Is my card, computer system and location compatible with the GB-PVR software?
If so could someone please give me a walkthrough for installing it onto my computer as I am a real noob at this?
Would I need to install any other software as well?

Thanks for your time

easy, calm down! Wink normally, you do not have to wait long for an answer, here.
i think its your 'unusual' hardware, which kept other users from answering.

your compy has surely enough power to run gbpvr.
the location you live in should also not be a problem, if you use the latest version of xmltv (see this thread for explanation). because i'm living in europe, i can't tell you how reliable this epg-source is.

i am not familiar with the card you are using (to be honest: not familiar with and dvb-cards at all) and can't say anything.

i read somwhere in the forum that (theoretically) every dvb-card comming with BDA-drivers should work.

installing is easy (normal case). download the latest package, install it, set up capture- and epg source. voila.

i don't know what (if any) special configuration is neccessary for dvb cards

in the wiki (http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/CaptureCards) are some dvb cards listed... since these type of hardware is realtively new, you may have to find out if you card is supported by simply trying it out.
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

Thx heaps for your time and input betlit, your a champ.
You have given me a fair bit to check out....seems to me that getting another card might be the go as nobody seems to be using the twinham cards much.
I wouldnt mind looking into the programming side of this technology as well, would you or anyone recommend a good place to start.
cheers mate

Hi,

I'm using the Twinhan DVB-T card and it's OK with GBPVR. You will need the BDA drivers from the Twinhan site. When scanning for channels, I found that I needed to ignore the locations settings and scan all channels otherwise I couldn't find them all.

I'm still having some issues with 0Kb recordings and no sound on recording, however I suspect this is due to poor aerial reception in my area ( UK ). I need to get on the roof and fit something bigger Smile

Otherwise, everything is fine and I like GBPVR so it seems worth working through these small problems.

Good Luck, Vit .

Thx vitesse pilot,
soz but im writing this while watching a good interview with an ex Aussie labour politician on twinham DTV(shameless plug cause its all I've got....but it worksSmile)
ok,
I start configuration...
Under General I only have 1 option at skin choice and that is blue....
I then go to capture sources
-I click on ADD
-I choose source name as Media Centre
-I then go to recording source
-I choose BDA recording Plugin
-I then choose settings for this
-I then choose Twinhan DVB-T, Device 1, Country=Australia,Region-Transmitter=All Channels
-I then go to EPG source(man oh man) so as I am from Australia I didnt chose Bleb or zap2it but went with XMLTV plugin
-I then choose settings for this and have no choice but to select browse
-I have no idea what to choose here so give up and continue
-I then click on channel changer and have no idea here as well( my channel changer came with the Twinhan card and only recognisable feature is CE on back)
-I give up on this after trying USB-UIRT plugin selection and spend 15 mins with a pair of multi grips(because my hands started to cramp) to hold number 1..... 2 inches away from receiver....and nothing happens
-next thing down I click on "Map channels to EPG channels" and get this message saying "You must import your list of EPG channels before attempting to scan and map digital channels. Please use the Update EPG button to do this"
-so I click on Update EPG button and I get "This capture source needs to be saved before the EPG is imported. Save capture now?”
-I click OK
-and get "You must setup the EPG source before you can continue"
- I click on OK
and thats it cant go any further
I then close configuration and open GB-PVR and click on Live TV and get message "No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration Utility and setup the EPG source. Use the "Update EPG button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information.
-I click OK and exit
I have tried……oh man have I tried…….heaps of stuff (reading forums-not just here ….downloading and installing-codecs, grabbers- changing drivers(18 times cause I want to watch TV).
Man I consider myself not stupid but now I’m really having doubts.
Help me please…………

Sorry, I'm guilty of viewing your post. But I don't own a Twinham card so I can't offer you any help.

I hope you get gbpvr to work for you, it's a great program.

You are on your way, maybe giving up a little bit too easy ;-)

You need to learn about xmltv. You say you have downloaded and installed grabbers. Which ones have you tried? All of them should output a file with the extension ".xml". This is the file you should browse for above. Then you need to figure out some way to make your computer update this xml file once a day (see your grabber utility on how to do this).

USB-UIRT plugin won't do anything for you if your device is not an USB-UIRT. However, if you have a DVB-card, you shouldn't need a channel changer at all, the computer should be able to change channels for you anyway. The channel changer plugin is if you need to change channels on an external digi-box.

After this I can't help you - never used a dvb-card myself. Hope you can get a bit further. Have you read the wiki, by the way?
